Job Description

Purpose of the Job:

The Digital Lead will design and implement the organization's digital marketing and engagement strategies, leveraging innovative tools and platforms to amplify impact. This role involves creating and managing digital campaigns, overseeing influencer collaborations, and ensuring adherence to industry standards while navigating the socio-economic and political landscape. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of digital storytelling, behavior change strategies, and development sector dynamics to build impactful campaigns that align with the organization's goals.

What the Candidate Will Do:

The Digital Lead will oversee the development and execution of digital marketing strategies, manage influencer relationships, and ensure all campaigns reflect the socio-economic, political, and cultural sensitivities of the target audience.

Key Responsibilities:

Digital Marketing Strategy and Execution:

- Design and implement comprehensive digital marketing strategies aligned with organizational goals.

- Develop impactful digital campaigns that drive engagement, awareness, and behavior change.

- Ensure alignment with the latest industry standards in digital marketing and storytelling.

- Monitor campaign performance and make data-driven adjustments to optimize outcomes.

Advertising and Media Buying:

- Manage digital advertising and media buying across platforms such as Google Ads, Meta, LinkedIn, and others.

- Allocate budgets efficiently to maximize ROI while achieving campaign objectives.

- Stay updated on ad performance metrics and adjust strategies to meet key performance indicators.

Influencer Management:

- Build and manage relationships with influencers, digital creators, and thought leaders.

- Develop strategies to leverage influencer networks for organizational campaigns.

- Ensure influencers align with the organization's values and mission.

Behavioral Change Strategies:

- Integrate behavior change principles into digital campaigns to achieve measurable social impact.

- Use data and audience insights to design campaigns that drive meaningful shifts in attitudes and actions.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure behavioral strategies are embedded in organizational initiatives.

Socio-Political and Cultural Sensitivity:

- Ensure all digital campaigns and content are aligned with the socio-political and cultural context.

- Maintain clarity on what content could be perceived as controversial and mitigate risks proactively.

- Position the organization effectively to avoid any anti-government perceptions.

Innovation and Industry Standards:

- Stay updated on emerging digital marketing tools, platforms, and trends.

- Bring innovative ideas to the table for storytelling and audience engagement.

- Lead efforts to adopt new technologies and methodologies to enhance digital impact.

Reporting and Analytics:

- Track and report on digital campaign performance, including ROI and key metrics.

- Analyze data to generate insights and recommend improvements for future campaigns.

- Ensure transparency and regular updates to leadership on digital strategy effectiveness.

Core Competencies:

Technical Expertise:

- Extensive experience in digital marketing strategy and operations.

- Proficiency in digital advertising, media buying, and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEMrush).

- Strong understanding of behavior change frameworks and their application in digital campaigns.

- Knowledge of mainstream and emerging digital platforms, including content creation tools.

Strategic and Creative Skills:

- Ability to design impactful, data-driven digital campaigns.

- Expertise in crafting compelling narratives that align with organizational goals.

- Strong analytical skills to measure and optimize digital performance.

Interpersonal and Leadership Skills:

- Excellent relationship management skills for working with influencers and external partners.

- Ability to collaborate across departments to ensure seamless integration of digital strategies.

- Strong communication and negotiation skills to manage diverse stakeholders effectively

Level: Leadership

Experience Level: 10+ years of experience in digital marketing, with at least some exposure to the development sector. Proven track record in managing advertising, media buying, and influencer collaborations. Experience in designing behavior change campaigns is essential.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree is compulsory, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field. A Master's degree in a relevant field is highly desirable.
