Manager I, Backend Engineering

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the technical development of backend services using Node.js, Python, and Typescript.
• Architect and implement RESTful APIs and serverless microservices using AWS services like Lambda, S3, and API Gateway.
• Oversee the optimization of backend systems for scalability, performance, and security.
• Manage a team of backend engineers, providing technical mentorship and career guidance.
• Conduct regular code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including frontend developers, product managers, and DevOps, to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Take ownership of project timelines, deliverables, and resource planning.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges, ensuring minimal downtime and high availability.
• Develop and maintain documentation of system architecture and technical decisions.
• Facilitate the professional growth of team members by identifying learning opportunities, setting performance goals, and providing feedback.
• Ensure alignment of team efforts with organizational goals and customer requirements.
• Set and monitor KPIs for team members, ensuring alignment with business objectives and performance targets.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand product requirements and ensure timely and effective delivery of features.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members, identifying areas for improvement and professional development.
• Coordinate and report progress to senior management and product teams, proactively addressing any blockers or risks.

BASIC QUALIFICATION

• Education Background: BE/BTech in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong expertise in Node.js, Python, and Typescript.
• Deep understanding of backend frameworks like Express.js, Django, Flask, and FastAPI.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, API Gateway, DynamoDB, and Aurora.
• Solid understanding of SQL and NoSQL database design and optimization.
• Proven experience in leading teams or mentoring junior engineers.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills with a focus on project management.
• Ability to balance technical leadership with team management and performance tracking.
• Proven experience leading teams, setting KPIs, and managing the successful delivery of products.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and the ability to manage sprints effectively.

• Expertise in implementing secure coding practices, data encryption, and system hardening techniques to safeguard applications.
• AWS Cloud Certified Practitioner and AWS Certified Developer Associate.
