Texas Instruments Interview Questions, Process, and Tips

Round: Test
Experience: There was written test in the very beginning of the selection process. It had questions from logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude and electronics. It had questions from microprocessor and many other electronics topic. Thereafter there were the interview rounds.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: There were 2 rounds in which they asked me both HR questions as well as core field related question. They asked me to describe myself as well as tell them about my strengths and weaknesses. They also asked me about working in the southern part of India and my views on relocation.

On the technical side they asked me the following questions:

1) Design of D-latch from 2*1 mux?
2) XOR gate using minimum number of NAND gates?
3) Shift registers connections to get a particular sequence?
4) Use of Accumulator in processors like 8085?

In general the interview was more focussed on the technical side with the HR side just to make sure I will be a good fit in the company.

Round: Test
Experience: Very easy questions, lots of time. Some basic hardware questions. Both the tests were very easy.They do not care, if you do not know any of the basics.
Tips: What they mainly see, is how quickly you can understand or grab concepts, and how well you can apply them.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: They basically grill you on the basics of analog VLSI design. Specifically on the frequency response of various RC circuits. Then they will look into the transient response of various RC circuits, Op-Amp stability criterion.
Tips: They will help you, and you have to grab on to their hints. Good interview. Very good questions.

General Tips: Basically the company looks at your analog signal domain knowledge, and your capability to grasp things quickly. Not funda intensive, but how well can you apply the little funda you have.
Skill Tips: If you have a good base in VLSI circuits, then well and good. However, even if you do not have that much knowledge, but are good in analog VLSI design, and basic transient system design, they will consider you. They are looking for very strong FUNDAMENTALS on basic RC circuits.

Round: Test
Experience: The selection procedure is a test followed by tech interview and an HR interview.
The test had two parts:
 Aptitude (common across all profiles)
 A tech. test (separate for each profile)

Round: Interview
Experience: The tech interview was the important one and the HR interview was just about knowing the student and vice-versa. The tech interview was more concentrated on the basics and more importance was given to the approach of solving the problem rather than solving the problem itself.
No CGPA cutoff.

Round: Interview
Experience: Not very important.

General Tips: The work is well structured and executed. There is a lot of opportunity for more technical learning. Interns are also included into the teams and this helps the intern on knowing about the things going around them and gets an overall view of how things work.
As a whole, the work is very good, and exceeds all the expectations of the students.
