A Diploma Trainee Engineer was asked
Q. What is the least count of a digital vernier caliper?
Ans.

The least count of a digital vernier caliper is the smallest measurement that can be read on the scale.

  • The least count of a digital vernier caliper is typically 0.01 mm or 0.0005 inches.

  • It is determined by the number of divisions on the main scale and the number of divisions on the vernier scale.

  • For example, if the main scale has 10 divisions and the vernier scale has 9 divisions, the least count would be 0.1 mm /...

A Diploma Trainee Engineer was asked
Q. What is the full form of CNC machine?
Ans.

Computer Numerical Control machine is a manufacturing process that uses pre-programmed computer software to control the movement of tools and machinery.

  • CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control

  • CNC machines are used in manufacturing processes to automate tasks such as cutting, drilling, and milling

  • Examples of CNC machines include CNC routers, CNC mills, and CNC lathes

A Diploma Trainee Engineer was asked
Q. Define 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines.
Ans.

2 stroke engine completes the power cycle in 2 strokes of the piston, while 4 stroke engine completes it in 4 strokes.

  • 2 stroke engine has intake, compression, power, and exhaust in 2 strokes

  • 4 stroke engine has intake, compression, power, and exhaust in 4 strokes

  • 2 stroke engines are simpler and lighter but less fuel efficient

A Diploma Trainee Engineer was asked
Q. How many axes does a CNC machine have?
Ans.

Most CNC machines have 3 or 5 axes, but some advanced machines can have up to 9 axes.

  • Most common CNC machines have 3 axes: X, Y, and Z.

  • Some CNC machines have 5 axes: X, Y, Z, A, and B.

  • Advanced CNC machines can have up to 9 axes, including rotational axes for more complex operations.

  • The number of axes in a CNC machine determines the complexity of the operations it can perform.

A Diploma Trainee Engineer was asked
Q. Define G and M code.
Ans.

G and M codes are programming languages used in CNC machines to control various functions and operations.

  • G codes are used to control the movement and positioning of the tool or workpiece on a CNC machine.

  • M codes are used to activate or deactivate specific machine functions like coolant flow or spindle rotation.

  • Example: G01 is a code for linear interpolation, while M03 is a code for spindle start in a CNC program.

Why are women still asked such personal questions in interview?
I recently went for an interview… and honestly, m still trying to process what just happened. Instead of being asked about my skills, experience, or how I could add value to the company… the questions took a totally unexpected turn. The interviewer started asking things like When are you getting married? Are you engaged? And m sure, if I had said I was married, the next question would’ve been How long have you been married? What does my personal life have to do with the job m applying for? This is where I felt the gender discrimination hit hard. These types of questions are so casually thrown at women during interviews but are they ever asked to men? No one asks male candidates if they’re planning a wedding or how old their kids are. So why is it okay to ask women? Can we please stop normalising this kind of behaviour in interviews? Our careers shouldn’t be judged by our relationship status. Period.
