Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: There was a written test in the beginning which had questions on data interpretation, logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude. The test lasted for 10 minutes and had only 10 questions.
Duration: 10 minutes
Total Questions: 10

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: The group discussion round had the following topic: “Electric Vehicles – the future market scenario in INDIA”. In this round they tried to see our knowledge of the current affairs and how we spoke to justify our points and how we responded to the points put by others.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: The interview round after the GD was a complete HR interview with no questions asked from the technical side. They asked me about myself, my strengths and weaknesses, about what motivates me and some questions on morality/ethics etc. They asked me about my family values and about my upbringing as well. Besides the normal HR questions they also asked me which particular area would I be interested in working in, if selected for the company and why? The also asked me what impressed me about the company. There are many other consulting firms but why Frost? I told them I follow football so they asked me about my favorite team, captain and players and also about the latest updates of the football world.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The selection process started with a written test which had questions mostly from Data Interpretation. The questions were not so tough and preparation for CAT is more than sufficient to clear the test. There were few questions from logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude as well. There were 10 questions to be answered in 10 minutes and cut off was 9 questions. In total 30 students were shortlisted for the GD round.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: GDs were conducted in groups of 6. We were given a rough sheet of paper and a pencil. The topic given to my group was "Mega trends in India by 2025". We were given 2 minutes to note down our points. 6 people were shortlisted for the interviews primarily based on the content & language.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: It was primarily an HR interview. They asked me about my career plans, where do I see myself in ‘n’ years and also about my views on relocation, frequent travelling, working on weekends and in rural areas. Besides these regular HR questions they also asked me about why do I want to join Frost and Sullivan and why don’t I want to pursue MBA. They also asked about expect from the job profile that was offered. There were no questions from core field to which I belonged.

College Name: IIT Kanpur

I appeared for an interview before Jun 2016.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: McKinsey looks for a spike in your resume, people who have commendable achievements is their field of choice, academics, extra curriculars or sports. So be sure to make your resume accordingly. McKinsey adds a lot of weight-age to formal awards, scholarships, achievements (like inter-IIT) etc. But if you don?t have them (like me) you just have to make extra effort to show that you have equivalent achievements.

Round: Technical + HR Interview
Experience: First I was asked about myself and mostly my connection to dance and the dance club. (Some interviewers do this to make you comfortable at the same time analyzing your personality). In the first interview I was given an estimation case about the dish TV industry. Here the interviewer was mostly interested in my approach to solving the problem and if applicable my numerical skills. The second interview was a pure business case about the printing business. Here my creativity and business sense (read common sense as applicable to a business situation) was put to test.
Tips: Take on every interview as if that job doesn?t mean anything to you.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Interview
Experience: Quizzed on opinions of the Construction Industry.

General Tips: 1. Be prepared on the courses and project works that you mention in your resume2. Read newspapers, blogs about the construction industry and keep yourself updated
Skill Tips: """"
Skills: Infrastructure Planning, Infrastructure Management, Construction Management, Project Management
College Name: VIT Chennai

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Deloitte selection procedure involves a written test which is
same as CAT format (certainly not that tough). Though I had not joined any test series to prepare for it, but I must strongly recommend that you should actually join a test series (provided by Career Launcher or
TIME). This test series will actually help you to synchronize your mind to the format and moreover it would help to refresh the question solving skills which you used to exercise while preparing for JEE.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: general topic is given (mostly it is as to how you would go for implementing a new type of technology in a company, and hence you all have to decide the stepwise procedure for the implementation), then whole of the group is called in presentation room where each one is told personally to speak about the same topic as that of GD. This constitutes
second round. Finally, if you clear it, you get to face the interviews.
Tips: From now onwards, start reading newspaper daily. Just give at least one hour reading the editorials from newspaper and make it your habit. Not only for GD's, but for life in general, its very important that you should have a certain view about things happening around you and in the world and newspapers are the best thing which help you form your views and also know about the expert opinions on day to day topics. So, make sure that you read newspaper daily.

Round: Other Interview
Experience: For interview, main thing is that you should be well conversed about everything you have mentioned on your resume. So, before you go for any interview, just make sure that you can speak about for 5 minutes on
every single thing in resume. Deloitte is a company which is open for all the btech students and hence its mainly looking for the students who have a right attitude and are good at their interests.
Tips: have a perfect set of communication skills. I had not done
any special type of preparations for the interview or group discussions but all these skills actually developed during these years. I would advise that in order to gain more confidence at speaking, you should start taking challenges from now on and should actively participate in any sort of debates and GD.

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: We got 2mins for preparing before the GD began.

Duration: 10 minutes

Round: HR Interview
Tips: The spirit with which you deal the interview matters most. If it is a stress interview, try to be as cool as possible.

General Tips: I started towards the ending of October. It would definitely help if I had started earlier. If you are aiming for deloitte you don't have start anytime earlier than october. As many don't aim for deloitte please don't start late and repent later. There will be plenty of time during the semester to prepare for whatever profile and job you are aiming for.

2nd & 3rd years

If you are aiming for core companies get a very good project, you can pitch about. The project has to be purely linked to the dept concept. For example, in civil engineering I did a project on fusing BIM and Gaming. Although it seems cool, it doesn't help at all as far as core interview is concerned

In general if a person is aiming at a finance or a banking company at least one internship in the respective field SHOULD be done to bring weight to your resume.
Skill Tips: Any courses relating to infrastructure (IPM – offered by Ashwin Mahalingam ofCivil Dept will help).

Any BTP relating to infrastructure – like socio-economic evaluation of a project, that they liked in the resume, or performance in previous rounds etc.)taking BIM to govt, policy considerations etc would be job-fetchers.
