Interview Preparation Tips

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOUR

After 2 rounds of interviews and one design test, which took me 2 days to complete,
I was ghosted by the HR. Despite multiple calls and emails, there was no response.

After investing so much time and effort, all I expected was a simple 'yes' or 'no'!

However, I never received any communication or decision regarding my application.
I would not recommend anyone to apply or work with such an unprofessional company!

Interview Preparation Tips

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - I had applied for a senior design position at Space Matrix, a well-known design firm that specializes in the design and build of large workspaces.

However, to be a part of such an opportunity there was a humongous assignment where I had to design a 10,000 sq. ft. commercial space, for which I was asked to draft the space, make 2D/3D interior concepts with budgeting, scheduling, mood boards, etc. summed up in a creative presentation - basically a full-fledged project presentation that would take at least two weeks or more).

Regardless of its immensity, I completed the task as directed, which led to an interview round in their Hyderabad headquarters. (Shockingly it was quite an unwelcoming, dimly lit compact space for a design firm that specializes in offices).

To my surprise, the interview turned out to be more of a project evaluation of the task than anything else; in fact, I was asked to redo the assignment and submit it with the given additional time. The interviewer seemed unconcerned with my previous work or even discuss the position I was being considered for. To add to my dissatisfaction, the HR department was quick to follow up until I had done their tasks.

In my opinion, if you are asked to complete a task for your assessment that takes more than a day or two of your time, it is obvious that it is something the company is working on and not a test of your skills.

Request that the authorities respect our time and that HR at the very least acknowledge or inform job seekers of their final decisions.

I applied via Approached by Company and was interviewed in Jan 2022. There was 1 interview round.

Round 1 - One-on-one

(2 Questions)

  • Q1. General Questions related to the profile like ROI, STAKEHOLDERS MANAGEMENT, BASICS OF MARKETING AND BUSINESS SKILLS
  • Q2. Also they give assignment, which after completion i have not got any reply

Interview preparation tips for other job seekers - do not spend time on making assignment, they are wasting your time, they wont even revert you on the same

Interview Questionnaire

2 Questions

  • Q1. Questions related to my experiences and job details.
  • Q2. I was given a poster to be designed.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: HR Interview
Experience: They asked about my previous experiences and other details. They explained about their company and the job that I'll have to do. And they observed my behaviour and observation skills.
Tips: We just have to be confident. Being ourself or Being Honest is not the point. The point is to be confident. Even if you're lying, just be Confident. They rate your confidence and the way you carry yourself. They never rate your faithfulness.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: I was given a poster to be designed. They asked me the time I might require to finish it. And I did it within the time I promised.
Tips: Whenever they ask you the time you require to do a task they are going to give, always keep a little buffer time. If you need 10 minutes, say 15. Keep in mind any technical issues that might come up. But make sure you don't go beyond logic and say the time required as 1 day for something that takes just 2 hours. May be 2 and a half hour is fine.

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: Shortlisted me and explained the job. Discussed about the payscale and other nuances.
Tips: Always have a correct figure if they ask you your expected CTC. It shows that you precisely know you your value in the market. And if they try negotiating, better not move. That also will again show about your self knowledge. If you show you are ready for negotiation, you passively say that you value might go down in time.!
