Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Duration: 60 minutes minutes

Round: Test
Duration: 30 minutes minutes

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: The shortlist came only 3-4 hrs before the commencement of interviews so I didn’t have enough time to prepare anything extra after the list was forwarded.

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The interviewee had a cross-sectional diagram of a fuel injector and there was a graph plotted versus time against it, showing the variation of fuel pressure at 2 places, positions of movable parts in the plug, etc based on which he asked me to tell how the fuel injector worked. He later also asked me force analysis of a movable rod in the injector. Initially, he was mainly asking me the questions related to engines though I told him that my interest area is FEM and simulations. Once my interview was over and I moved out, after 2-3 minutes he again called me back and this time he asked me technical questions related to my interest area only. I answered almost all questions related to engines correctly, so you need to be prepared to answer questions which are not your interest area. I failed to answer a question about variation of stresses over the length of a bended circular beam and I also said that I am not good at fluid mechanics when he asked me about it.

General Tips: Do’s :
1) Revise all courses well beforehand.
2) Get your resumes reviewed by others or at least review it yourself multiple times and ensure that there are at least no spelling or grammatical mistakes.
3) Be prepared to answer any questions related to any software/concept/mechanism mentioned in your resume.
4) Be prepared to answer questions like Tell me about yourself, why this company, why should we choose you/what sets you apart compared to others etc.
5) Ask seniors what all to prepare for specific companies you are targeting.

Don’ts :
1) Don’t target everything that comes. If you don’t get specific to what kind of job you want you may end up not being prepared for either of them.
2) Don’t claim software's or concepts that you don’t know well or haven’t contributed anything to in your resume.
3) Don’t by heart answers to obvious questions word to word. Just make up the points and frame it on spot.
4) Don’t think that because of poor CPI you don’t have any chance. Preparation matters a lot. People with low CPI but good preparation get placed on day 1.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: There was an Online Aptitude+Tech test.

Duration: 90 min minutes

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: There was no Group Discussion

Round: Group Activity
Experience: There was no group activity ...

Round: Interview
Experience: There was nothing particularly different .

Round: Interview
Experience: Interview lasted for 50 minutes. I was grilled on the two internships that I had done during last two summers. And about 15 minutes of grilling on a self study course -CNC Machining just because I happened to be the class rep. There was a single guy questioning and not a panel which is good in some ways. He asked me if I had good quantitative skills. I replied yes. And then he asked a lot of math puzzles. Nothing too tough.
Tips: Just go through placement materials. Make sure you have a core resume for and you are thorough with everything you have written. Be prepared for anything. Learn the basics of important topic and practice some online core tests.SoM, IC engines, Heat Transfer, Thermodynamics, Mantech, TurboMachinery should be prepared properly . And also, be perfect on the projects and intern described in the resume.

General Tips: I started preparing for placements from October mid. Starting earlier always helps you. I did not prepare for non-core companies. Quant and Verbal through CAT preparation(improve your speed and accuracy) , Core from GATE book, notes, slides (according to the company profile) , Conducted around 7 wing GDs (get to know the mistakes) , helped me a lot in the whole placement preparation process.
Skill Tips: I think I was selected because of my performance in both the rounds. Throughout both the interviews they were more concerned about leading and managing people. In my case my PORs helped me, to answer those questions by giving suitable examples and confident answers. They also looked for manufacturing profile. So projects related to manufacturing sector will help you in the interview.

Interrupts are signals that temporarily halt the execution of a program to handle a specific event.

    • When an interrupt occurs in 8051, the program counter is saved on the stack and the interrupt service routine (ISR) is executed.

    • The ISR handles the interrupt and then returns control to the main program by restoring the program counter from the stack.

    • If an interrupt occurs while another interrupt is being serviced, the se...

  • Q8. Where is the location of current line of execution stored when there is an interrupt?
  • Ans.

The location of current line of execution is stored in the stack when there is an interrupt.

    • When an interrupt occurs, the processor saves the current state of execution on the stack.

    • The location of the current line of execution is stored in the program counter (PC) register.

    • The PC register is pushed onto the stack along with other registers.

    • After the interrupt is serviced, the processor pops the saved state from the st

  • Q9. Draw basic logic gates
  • Ans.

Logic gates are basic building blocks of digital circuits. They perform logical operations on inputs to produce outputs.

    • AND gate: output is 1 only if both inputs are 1

    • OR gate: output is 1 if either input is 1

    • NOT gate: output is the opposite of the input

    • NAND gate: output is 0 only if both inputs are 1

    • NOR gate: output is 0 if either input is 1

    • XOR gate: output is 1 if inputs are different

    • XNOR gate: output is 1 if inputs a

  • Q10. Draw half adder without using EXOR gate , draw full adder without EXOR
  • Ans.

Draw half adder and full adder without using EXOR gate.

    • Half adder can be implemented using AND and OR gates

    • Full adder can be implemented using two half adders and an OR gate

    • In half adder, sum is obtained by ORing two inputs and carry is obtained by ANDing two inputs

    • In full adder, sum is obtained by using two half adders and an OR gate, and carry is obtained by ANDing three inputs

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The technical section consisted of questions different branches. I shall answer from ECE point of view. The test had same questions for electrical cluster , ie ECE ,EEE, IT,TC . There were 35 questions in this section. The questions were based on subjects in 1st 2nd and 3rd year. Mainly concentrated on DEC, AEC, Micro-controllers, Control systems and a few basic electronics questions as well. This section also had 5 questions on programming as well. The test also had negative marking. +1 and -0.25 was the scheme. The second aptitude section had 25 questions on logical reasoning, data interpretation.
Tips: Answer only those questions which you are confident about the answer.
Duration: 60 minutes
Total Questions: 60

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The interview started on a tensing note, but he told me to make myself comfortable. He was more interested in how I would approach the problem rather than the syntax or trivialities of the code. He tried to confuse me even when my answer was correct. The interview went on for 30-40 mins. At the end of which the interviewer gave me a HR form to fill, and told me to proceed to the HR interview.
Tips: Be confident and do not say things you don't know about, many of my friends got rejected for bluffing.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: The interviewer had a stern expression on his face, and was serious throughout the interview. He asked me why i had done a C++ project though i was from a ECE background, ( I explained that I had taken an elective OOPS which required us to do a mini project as a part of our curriculum). He also asked what i know about Bosch, this is a definite question, prepare well for it.
Tips: Be confident and truthful, do not bluff about anything. They are well trained to detect those anomalies.

General Tips: Prepare the subjects of second year and third year well. Do not panic in the interview, answer the questions to the point.
Skill Tips: Revise your understanding of your projects thoroughly.
Skills: Knowledge about microcontrollers, Knowledge about AEC and DEC basics, Some knowledge about Control systems, Thorough understanding about the projects pursued.
College Name: BMS College Of Engineering, Bangalore
