Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Technical test consisted of 27 questions in 30 minutes. Questions were easy but constraint of time is there. Aptitude test consisted of 50 questions in 30 minutes. Questions in aptitude section were of mixed difficulty.
Tips: Try to solve easy questions first to maximize the score. Out of 70 odd students only 12 were selected for further rounds.
Duration: 30 minutes
Total Questions: 27

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: It was a simple topic and everybody spoke without any hustle (which happens a lot in GD's). Observers were sitting in the corners and they told the shy ones to speak. GD ended in about 5 minutes and only two people were eliminated out of group of seven.
Tips: GD's are primarily done to check our command on language. Try to speak valid points and have a common conclusion in the end. People who mentor the group always get the benefit.
Duration: 10 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: It was a technical + HR interview conducted by a panel of 4 people. In the beginning we have to give a presentation for two minutes on a random topic given by them. After that I was asked to introduce myself. Then I was asked few questions related to my family background. They asked about one favourite subject from each candidate followed by few questions.Interview was on shorter side and ended in about 10 minutes. HR did not asked much questions. One person scanned the CV throughout the interview.
Tips: Have thorough knowledge of your favorite subjects (atleast two subjects). One should be well versed with automobiles. Training is important and questions are asked on that. One should have strong and clear fundamentals along with interest to work with them. All the best

Skill Tips: Have faith in your abilities and try to pace the interview along your interests.Be confident. Be happy. Test is very important with low selection rate. So, give it seriously. Good Luck.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: After getting rejected at few companies I started practicing aptitude problems and reading about the basics of all the chapters of my branch. It’s not mandatory for anyone to study all your branch papers and score 100% in written exams. To crack the written test the most important point that one should follow is solve 90% of aptitude questions and 50% of our technical questions
Tips: I was rejected at BAJAJ and TATA HITACHI as I couldn’t clear the written exams. I did not practice much aptitude questions, I think this is the primary reason

Round: Group Discussion
Experience: I used to ask all my peers and seniors regarding the GD topics they faced during their time. You can find recent topics in the internet, but what really matters is how you express yourselves. Your approach and communication skills are tested. Master the English language, read newspapers
Tips: NA

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: First of all I figured out my strengths and weaknesses. My strength was my summer project that I did during my training at Maruti Suzuki, Gurgaon. Secondly since it was an automobile company I have also prepared well with my basics of automobile engineering and IC Engines. I was having a little lack of confidence regarding attending the tricky HR questions, as mostly what you answer that will never by fully correct so I have prepared for answers that will at least impress the interviewer and give him an impression that this guy is willing to do the job and has a strong determination to learn and excel within the company.

General Tips: Practice aptitude questions during summer this will help u reach the interviewer where you can exhibit your skills. Stick to the basic fundamentals of whatever you study. Take your internship very seriously and don’t just visit the company for a certificate. Before going to any company interview first do your homework and learn about the job profile and the history of the company.
Skill Tips: Initially I had a very less practice of aptitude problem hence faced a bit problem in clearing the written exams. Other than this I was not opting for any non- core or analytics company hence I have to focus on the detail study of my branch paper as per the requirement of the company.
College Name: NIT ROURKELA
Motivation: From the very beginning of my engineering carrier as a mechanical engineer I have dreamt to be a part of an automobile company and finally I got placed at Ashok Leyland. So, Yes!!

I appeared for an interview before Sep 2016.
