Interview Questions

  • Q1. Tell me about yourself, your family and your ambitions!
  • Q2. How do you want to see yourself 10 years from now
  • Q3. Are u ready to work in any place in India and are you ready to stay away from your family?

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Aptitude test was not so difficult, but was very lengthy. I could complete only half the paper in the allotted 30 minutes. Reasoning and Analytical was also easy, there was also a technical paper (30 min). All three of these constituted of our written test.
Duration: 105 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Thew asked me about my favorite subject. Most of the questions were asked from my favorite subject (IC Engines in my case). Most questions were in depth and conceptual rather than just whats the formula of this and that. They also asked me some questions from Fluid Mechanics as i had done some projects in Fluid Mechanics. Questions from fluid mechanics were elementary. In between they also asked me a question from strength of materials which i could not answer. Lastly some trivial questions from higher secondary physics were asked.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: They were very friendly. They would let you know if u have answered the question correctly and if you have answered it wrong they would explain you the correct answer.

Skill Tips: Be careful to choose your favorite subject. Make sure you answer the basic questions correctly. Best of Luck to alll......!!!!!!

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: The questions were simple and straight-forward. The questions demanded one have a good knowledge of physics, mathematics, and some mechanical topics like strength of materials, design and manufacturing.
Duration: 60 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: The technical interview consisted of 5 questions posed to me. In them except for a small fumble in a question or two, i did do well in most of it. I would say the thing that granted me the fit in was my confidence.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: The HR personnel was the one who made me comfortable as soon as i made my way into the interview room. The HR personnel posed me a question -"Tell me about yourself". Thanks to my friend who made me prepare for some HR questions usually posed in interviews the previous night. The question was the only one posed by the hr personnel. The technical interview followed the hr personnel interview.

Skill Tips: Hey guys i think there is some thing more special about interviews than cracking some mere technical questions. Its more about- confidence, making yourself be original in-front of the panel members and last but not the least, talk your way out of the situations.

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Aptitude test: this was a simple technical paper with question from intermediate maths and physics. just go through intermediate coordinate geometry, basics of calculus etc. it had simple questions on pendulums, velocity acceleration problems, boiling point of Hg(250 C) etc. just be clear on the basics for this test. these questions are repeated every year. 30 questions in 30 mins.
Reasoning/ analytical: all you need here is time management because there are lots of good standard questions(60 Qs in 30 mins). cat prep helps but it mostly checks your intelligence, so there's nothing much you can prepare
from.
Technical : 30Qs in 30 mins. questions from all topics of mechanical engg. but basic questions only, from 1st and 2nd year. Read on Ic engines, thermodynamic Strength of materials etc. Good practical situations are there.
Duration: 90 minutes
Total Questions: 120

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: Question on project(fem in my case), about ic engines, use of gaskets, casting defects, sfd and bmd, use of differential in vehicals, how do trains turn without differentials , one question on management(not the definations but the conccept should be known.)

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Its very simple. my interview was very good. i was able to make the environment friendly and i guess this helped me.
Tips: Never get nervous.

Skill Tips: Be clear on atleast one topic and tell them its your favourite subject.

Interview Questions

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Technical questions asked were not based on facts but based on the application of the basic knowledge which we had learnt in physics.of basic level which just needed some commonsense.Verbal English was very easy and analytical and aptitude were also of the basic level.
Duration: 90 minutes

Round: Technical Interview
Experience: First of all,I was asked to choose my favourite topic which was Thermodynamics. Then, the questions asked were very simple like : Represent Otto cycle ; Define zeroth law etc. Then, the next set were based on my industrial training experience and questions about turbines were posed ,once again they were very basic. Then, general questions based on measurements like:how would you measure the thickness of a paper,What is a differential; What are the different machining processes; How does power transmission take place in an automobile; How are the shafts checked for their size and diameter etc.

Round: HR Interview
Experience: It was a very short interview...for about 15 minutes...there were only two panelists...one technical and one HR.Overall experience was good.I just tried to show to them that I had passion for the automobile field and the Ashok Leyland.I couldn't answer all the questions,so,answering all questions also does not guarantee one a selection.

Skill Tips: Be relaxed and cool.No need to be too serious or tensed.Make sure you speak whatever you know clearly and confidently.Be interactive. One does not need to go into a shell...But,to have a better chance, be confident with the basics of your fav. subject, your training subject,I.C.Engines and automobile parts etc.,Basics of manufacturing processes. As far as the HR is concerned, try to exhibit a great amount of passion for the company and for the field because more than what you have done thus far, they are more concerned with what you are going to do after you join the company. So,they should know, you would be working for the company with full dedication and that you have been waiting for the company to come over to the campus. This will do wonders as you can make up for the unanswered questions.
