I have to chose between Virtusa and Accenture depending on below details: Accenture Fixed CTC = 27.5 LPA + 27% Variable Pay Virtusa Fixed CTC = 24 LPA + 10% Variable Pay which is 100% payable every six months = 27.4 LPA (Total) Virtusa is saying Client may absorb after 6 months and may give depending on the market standards. My First Company Switch

Hello people, I am making my first company switch. I have cleared the interviews of the new company and got the confirmation of the offer (verbally). The offer letter is yet to be received. I have a couple of questions, please let me know how these things work: 1.I need to resign my current company only after receiving the offer letter. Is that correct? And the new company will send the joining letter couple of days before joining. Correct? 2.Do I need to inform my team or my manager before filling the resignation letter on my current company's web portal? Or do I just fill the resignation form and let them know on their own? 3. Any important documents that I need to collect before leaving my current company? These questions might seem basic, but I am a novice.

Notice period negotiation

I resigned from my current company a couple of days ago. I have a 90 day notice period. I tried to negotiate it with my manager of the current company, asking to release early as the new company has early requirements and also on a medical ground basis, but my manager is not agreeing. I tried to talk with the HR of my current company. HR is ready to give the "buy out" option and I am also ok with it. But for the "buy out" to happen, HR needs something officially written from my manager that I do not have any dependency on the project. But my manager is not giving it officially. Feels like they are trying to keep me in loops and waste my time. I really do not have dependency on the project. What shall I do? I need to leave early to join the other company as they are offering quite well. Please suggest to me how I should get my notice period reduced?

How to manage both health and continuous learning being a hardcore Software Engineer?

I was fit during my college days, but after starting my job, my health started deteriorating day by day, I gained almost 20 kg since I started my job. Recently I started going to gym and I lost 7 kg and I'm still going to gym now. Now the problem is when I try to learn/study on daily basis, I don't have much time to go to gym and vice-versa. I am a hardcore engineer and I love to read or gain knowledge about internal working of any technology but now I also want to be fit and disease free, can you suggest me how to balance both of these while also keeping some personal time off as well? Note - I'm working in a startup as a platform engineer so I have to work a bit longer (8-10 hrs.) a day most of the days.

I have total 6 years of experience 4 years in business analyst and QA profile and 2 years in quality analyst. it's been 2 years now, every day I am trying hard for getting job offers as an business analyst, but it often happens with me that he called me taken my interview as well and sometimes after 1st hr call, hr is saying that sorry your notice period is 60 days hence we have kept you on hold, or you will get call from our recruitment team once you will get shortlisted once they got to know that my notice period is 60 days. I am totally tired and hoping for a good offer. Anybody please suggest to me what things I should do so that I can get the new job offer without quitting my current job.

Female engineers get promoted at an unbelievable rate

I just can’t not be amazed by how fast female engineers get promoted compared to male engineers. It’s open blatant discrimination against men at this point. How does someone who isn’t even a senior engineer become a manager in two years? This person literally graduated at the same time as me and yet here I am as a L61 engineer. The 2020-2022 tech market was a massive windfall that catapulted so many terrible female engineers and even the ones without a tech background into management and PM positions they don’t qualify for or deserve. These women have no qualms about bragging about it on any social platform.

My cousin, a 19-year-old has been wrestling with a big decision about his future. After passing his 12th exams in 2022, he took a gap year and plans to start college soon. His family is well-off financially, so he has the freedom to explore different paths. It feels like skill isn't enough to get ahead in tech.

I've seen instances where people from certain cultural backgrounds seem to get promoted quickly, even if their technical skills aren't always the strongest. While many are undoubtedly talented, it makes me wonder if there's a cultural bias at play that might be influencing these decisions. It's a complex issue, and I don't have all the answers, but it's something worth considering.
