Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: Basically there were some aptitude questions which were easy and English grammer(10th level) was asked. About technical aspect, questions were mostly factual.
Tips: For technical, prepare specifically for factual questions from your coursework. For aptitude part, focus on speed of solving problems.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Total Questions: 90

Round: Technical + HR Interview
Experience: I was asked about myself and extra-curricular activities first followed by some technical questions about iron-carbon phase diagram and lever rule.
Tips: Course work would suffice

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Test
Experience: It was online test and was aptitude section first. Questions were easy and later there were questions on English grammer and comprehension which would require 10th level knowledge. At last there will be 25 technical questions. Surprisingly, most of them were factual.
Tips: Pick up any aptitude book and practise it to improve your problem solving speed.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Total Questions: 90

Round: Technical + HR Interview
Experience: I was asked to draw Iron Carbon phase diagram and CCT curves. I was also tested about lever rule and eutectoid composition.
Tips: Coursework would suffice

  • Q1. The difference between distillation column and absorption column. What factor decides the feasibility to use distillation column to separate two components?
  • Q2. Heat transfer rate through walls of different conductivity and of the same area of heat transfer and length

Interview Preparation Tips

Round: Resume Shortlist
Experience: The post was open for B. Tech Chemical Engineering.
All the people who applied were allowed to write test.

Tips: Focus on internship.

Round: Test
Experience: The test was on amacat aspiringminds.com platform.
You cannot go back to the previous question.
Quant was average and easy difficulty level and English was ok to deal with. Some word meaning questions were also there.

In chemical engineering section, most of the questions were based on basic concepts of chemical engineering. Very few questions involved calculations.
Some topics: Evaporator, McCabe-Thiele Method, Slope of q-line, Gas Manometer pressure Measurement.
Out of ~40 people applied ~16 were shortlisted for the interview process.
CGPA of the shortlisted candidate varied from ~7 - ~(<9).
Tips: Attend all questions in Chemical Engineering Section to make sure that you do correctly at least all easy questions.
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes
Total Questions: 65

Round: Technical + HR Interview
Experience: Technical:
Most of the technical questions were based on internships (I didn't write anything about any project) that were written on the resume.
Internship 1. Heat Exchanger Analysis:
Q1. What did you do in this Heat exchanger analysis?
Q2: What type of heat exchanger were used? How many passes?
Q3. You have written effectiveness in the resume, what is it?

Internship 2. Sulphur Capture Optimization in CFBC Boilers:
Q1. What was the project? What did you do?

HR:
Tell me about yourself in brief?
Tips: Answer all question with clarity and clear understanding of your internships, use a notebook to explain.

Experience: aptitude + chemistry (12 std level)

Round: HR Interview
Experience: Main focus on project .Checked if you know the basic ideas on project topic.Was asked whats the difference between RnD in academics and Industry. Company wanted to know if he will stay with JSW for a longer period or go back to academics. This question was repeated in different ways.Questions about steel and its alloying elements were asked. Second round of interview with Higher authorities was mostly HR oriented.
