It’s is good for an international student who wants to start off their career working at Tim Hortons( It’s a major Canadian Coffee Company). They will get an exposure to Canadian culture, working in a fast paced environment, networking with employees and seniors (which comes handy if you are an international student), fexlible timings and good job security.

The pay is basic for team members, and managers don’t get compensated generously compared the pressure and work they put in. Whereas managers with same work load in similar industry gets paid a lot more. Growth is average and totally depends on the franchise you are being hired. I would recommend to gather some experience and look for better opportunities.

A lot of the customers were very nice. The core job itself was easy.

Dislikes

Managers are the worst. None of them have interpersonal skills. Most of them micromanage. Most of the staff are miserable. Didn’t even get free coffee at the location I was at. City place, Winnipeg. East Indian staff are very cliquè Communication barriers. No overtime is paid. Training is the worst and completely chaotic. My first day on the floor, I spent the first three hours guessing what to do, didn’t have a trainer. Management acting like I should know everything. Staff getting frustrated. They also don’t allow you to accept tips. Even if an order came to $8.50 and a customer gave you $10 and said, keep the change, you can’t. It has to go back in the till or they’ll say you’re stealing. Embarrassing company.
