There is nothing to like working in this company. Just have job security for 3 years.

Dislikes

...pany does not value your ability. Actually they don't need it. No career growth. Salary is delayed and allowances are not paid most of the time. Even if it is paid, it is delayed by 5-6 months. Frequent transfers with in few months. Have to travel more than 100 km/ day on an average by bike which should be your own. No maintenance cost provided. Neither have accommodation facility nor offices at sites as their projects last for very short periods. No skill development. Promotion depends strongly on reference not on ability. No coordination between offices and sites.

Dislikes

The only dislike is duration of the job is not guaranted, as it's a contract job, is to be renewed every year no matter how much you do the hard work the Hike is fixed.

REC-PDCL appoints engineers on contractual basis for a term of 4.5 years,it may extended if project is available. Top management is gentle and professional. Most of the time, engineers have to work with Officers of Discom for RE projects,which helps them to get lots of technical knowledge. Sometimes, many engineers get the chance to work in Discom HQ for project purposes, that's an another opportunity to gather the knowledge of technical,administrative and financial parts of the project. Posting are generally remote posting,so, engineers get the chance to observe the various social issues, geographical issues and moreover, get the chance to learn about different cultures of different places, localities,which helps new comers to develop their communication skills, management skills,good knowledge on various social issues,geographical knowledge.But as it's on contractual basis,so, that's a risk. Otherwise,its Ok to join after passing out. Most of the times, review meetings and progress meetings are chaired by Top officers of REC Ltd and Top Central Government Officers,which helps engineers learn many new things. Someone willing to get some knowledge in various dimensions, they can Join. So, after passing out, one can join this company and can learn lots of things in different aspects.

Basic problems I must say, it's contractual Job and it's extendable but one shouldn't do contractual Job for whole life, instead of exploring other career opportunities.

Culture is very poor for contrual employees. Employee already experienced but a contractual employee is fired after working for a certain period or is not even given an extension.

Good work environment and culture. Teammates are supportive and the management is transparent. There is a huge cafeteria. Company policies are good,appraisal are fair and they give good stipend and more gifts, coupons etc.
