I worked about 28 years in Railway Protection Force of Eastern Railway. Since this force includes in Para Military , under central Govt, there is job security and no tension of salary hikes but due Govt culture, there is less workin culture and least reward to good one. In a nut shell, RPF is good from all aspects.

There should be streamline in proper working culture, promotion to deserved staff, proper staff redressal

...ic, practical training is good....Job security is fine....career growth is ok...salary is good...travel is free on most occasions so very good...politics is present...learning is everyday ...work is challenging...work life is unbalanced...

Teammates are like unity in diversity....training is not advanced...job security is on officer's verdict about self...career growth is very sublime...salary not up to expectations...traveling is ok but not compatible...politics is a must here...learning is as u take it..work environment is tensed and pressurized....no place for innovation here...work life is totally unbalanced...

...tant rank. Risk in duty pattern and duty hours, it could be normal or abnormal. Salary as per govt rule and not so good even after passing of long Yeats in this department. Overall Rating is average.

It's a wonderful platform to serve the travelling public and nation by protecting national property. This Force is vested with powers of special acts to arrest and prosecute criminals unlike CAPF, that's great thing for this National unified Police.

Dislikes

Poor promotional avenues in comparison to other Police organisations and missing practical policy of transfer. RPF being a law enforcement agency like any other Police as it is vested with powers to arrest and prosecution needs a viable transfer policy and good promotional avenues for all ranks and file to keep the Force motivated.

Overall everything was excellent and gained a lot in experiencing security environment, training , politics as you are connected with the public to secure the railway property as foremost duty. After completing my 18 years Army service Ordanance corps I appeared for direct Sub inspector exams and got selected in Railway Protection Force and retired as Sr inspector with exemplary service record, Good salary with lot of travel in trains for protection of Rly property and safety of passengers, Good working environment with secured job and good salary. I loved to work in Railway.
