The only good part for working them is WFH and the salary offered; it keeps your head down and makes you bear all that is going wrong with you.

Dislikes

1. Managers here are credit stealers. 2. Toxicity and the politics is the very first thing you start your daily work with. 3. Favouritism; You'll only be promoted if you're your manager's favourite 4. You need to do your manager's work instead of what your job demands then only you're skilled. 5. Feedbacks are non confidential here think thrice before writing anything. 6. The layoff wave has just started in the company after chatGPT partnered with Apple and Samsung and their hero product paraphraser is now freely available. 7. Work timings are flexible so you have to available whenever your manager needs you be it 1 am.

The holiday budget, which used to be around Rs. 25,000 every Diwali, has shrunk by 67% in 2024 as they no longer can afford to spend the holiday bonus on each employee. 6. Oh, The managers here are superclass most of them (around 40%) of the managers are first-time managers in QuillBot, and they know the ladder to the top goes by buttering the upper-level management. The first-timers are really bad at management as they have a lot of attitude and if you ask them about how they made it, they all have a fake struggling story which gets them empathy and attention in the company gatherings and meetups but they do not respect their direct reportees. 7. The favouritism runs in the culture of the company; each one of the managers has their favourites in their teams, from the top CEO to the lowest-level manager. You do not have to worry about anything and not at all have to work if you can make sure you're the manager's favourite.

Likes

- The flexibility of remote work allows for a good balance and must be probably the only plus about this job. - The company has a good insurance policy demonstrating that it values its employees' well-being. - Great offsite and team outing sessions, great for camaraderie. - You get to work with people from diverse backgrounds from all around the world. - You get to work on some interesting projects, good exposure.

Dislikes

- Despite being a fairly young company the leadership structure often feels overly bureaucratic. - Unnecessary layers of approval - The leadership team's directions often lack clarity, and the frequent changes in strategy (3 months) create a lot of uncertainty. - The promotion process seems entirely dependent on individual managers. The HR team lack of knowledge often worsens this system. - Regular occurrence of employee layoffs, the environment is stressful and demotivating. The feeling that 'anyone could be next' is not conducive to a healthy environment. - Leadership messages often sound distant, often leaving employees disconnected from the overall direction. - The merger with two other companies within Learneo negatively impacted QuillBot, and the company has had a downward spiral since the merger. (they call it the combination) - The HR team has a slow and neutered response to urgent issues or concerns. - Downsides of working remotely: You end up working in silos, sense of isolation. - Absence of learning initiatives, hire for roles, rather than train the employee. - Some American and European colleagues can be at times condescending. - The AI writing space is highly volatile, hence everyone is the company is always in reactive mode for the next big happening in the AI space, not healthy at all.

Likes

The work culture here is just awesome. You feel part of the mission all the time. Nobody forces you to work, it just comes from within naturally. The comp structure and benefits are very competitive. Permanent work from home just adds cherry on top.

Dislikes

I literally can not think of any. This might sound like I am being biased but in my personal experience and experience of many others who work here is positive.
