Salary Expectations

I am a Social Media Specialist with over 4 years of experience and was earning around 4.5 LPA in my previous role. When I joined my current organization, I discovered that my manager, with just 2.5 years of work experience, was earning a compensation of 7.6 -8.2 LPA (approx). This was quite surprising to me, and it made me question the market standards. I am currently looking to switch roles and, based on my research through Glassdoor and other sources, I am expecting a package of 7-8 LPA. However, many HRs I’ve spoken to feel that even 6 LPA is too high. What should be the ideal salary expectation for someone with my experience in the current market?

I interned there, in my first year of college. At the time I was naive and didn't know how things happen in a company. I asked for an offer letter early on as someone told me to. The person I was working under delayed it saying I'll be given an offer letter once my designs are verified. I agreed. Similar replies were there for my future requests of an offer letter. I was working all this time, delivering designs. 2 months passed, I made over 30 designs. The internship ended, I wasn't paid. On asking for a certificate, the request was declined again. Don't intern here. If you have to, don't start work until you get an offer letter.
