Promotion and Salary is completely based on your rating given by team leader. So if you are working hard but your team leader is biased then you will get bad ratings which affects promotion and appraisal.

Deloitte has very good learning repositories for any skill. It holds regular tutorial sessions for skills. Udemy and Linkedin learnings are free. So, very good to upskill. There are regular outings as well which was fun.
