I urge you to exercise caution and not be swayed solely by monetary incentives. Since it is privately owned, the company operates within a controlled environment, which can foster a mindset of cost-cutting at the expense of employee well-being.
Engineering Managers and Product Managers have been promoted through luck rather than merit, resulting in a hostile atmosphere. Furthermore, the absence of VP-level presence on-site, with most situated in the US or UK, leads to a lack of accountability.
The support team, including the Head, HR, and VP, appears to be disconnected from the day-to-day happenings within the company.
On a positive note, the CEO, CTO, and IT support team exhibit professionalism and competence.
VP-level employees seem to be excessively occupied with trivial matters, while managers perpetuate favoritism, alcoholism, racism, and office politics.
Regrettably, only a small fraction of senior developers possess the required skills, while the rest struggle.
Overall, the majority of employees endure unfavorable circumstances.
Please take these factors into consideration before making a decision.
Start Up Culture with average salary.
No onsite opportunity.
No process, no proper scrum calls.
Poor Infrastructure.
Poor HR culture
Projects are limited
- You get to learn a LOT, and you'll end up as a smart, confident professional.
- Great after-hours culture + freebies + lunches.
- Some coworkers and superiors are absolute sweethearts and can prove to be extremely supportive, even during personal crises. You WILL end up making friends for life.
- Very receptive to ideas and suggestions.
- The brand 'Conde Nast' will look good on your CV. You can then command a premium from future recruiters or clients.
- No all-nighters. The latest I stayed back was 10.30 pm.
- Reimbursement for cab fares after 9 pm.
- Overall, very peaceful work environment.
- Crazy workload that never seemed to end.
- Salary is a joke. Don't be surprised if you get a box of six macarons as your annual bonus. Negotiating really well before accepting an offer is key. Else, all that slogging won't make any sense.
- Some employees can be very opportunistic and willing to do anything to win favours from top bosses. This creates pressure on other workers to perform beyond their limits and affects work-life balance.
- Be prepared to work on weekends for no extra pay. Else, put your foot down right from the start.
- No work from home.
- No comp offs.
- Very little scope for growth or promotion. Your seniors and coworkers get to dictate your worth and opportunities.
- Minor one: no separate dining room, so you have to eat on your desk itself.
Everything. Team, communication, HR’s. This is one company where I can see the HR playing no roles. They come to sit, dance arrange the same activities all around the year and show zero concern about the employees. Talk about the management, they are least bothered to see what their employees are looking for.
They definitely need to work on the management teams.
