Great clientele. Good exposure. Senior Associates are friendly and helpful. Good place to start.

Dislikes

Grossly understaffed. Everyone covers for 3-4 people, plus random HR and administrative "voluntary" (read compulsory) tasks. They hire a lot of freshers and not enough seasoned lawyers. Firm cares too much about its public image and not enough about the people who work there.

They are losing sincere people because they don't know how to retain people. No work life balance. Countless weekly sessions which nobody listens to, for which you are expected to take out time apart from your regular work - which by the way you don't have enough time to complete as it is. Working overtime is the norm. There aren't enough people which ends up putting double the amount of pressure on each person. Some seniors are good, some will expect you to work even on holidays/weekends as if you owe them that time - shows lack of standardization in work culture. They want to pretend to be a world class law firm without putting in work/care about their employees' well being. The only good thing is the kind of diverse work you get to do.

Likes

The organisation provides ample opportunities to learn on the job and refine our skills. An excellent work culture and a close knit association and team work among peers and management.

Highly target oriented and customer focused

I love the fact that I was the part of a team that has a global client base. ALG is a US based client and they have some offices in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai etc. I worked happily in collaboration.
