I was at Uganda from March2017, to July 2018.As consultant for a Rural Electrification Project, under REA. Government of Uganda. Loan provider.. AFD. France. Construction of 33 kV lines and installation of distribution transformers, switch gears, metering unit etc. This was a excellent opportunity for me to work in a country where majority is poor but their community values are very high. Due importance given for communication to community and save environment. As regarding the people of the country and their effort to work in very difficult terrain must bt appreciated. Wapcos is trying to best services. But some time there was placement of few people, who having different ideas, not matching with clients requirements.

ERP SAP has not been fully implemented so simple things take time for approval. They dont pay full salary and benefits. High level politics and unhealthy environment for those who genuinely work.

All my senior expert are very helpful and l am pleased to gathering knowledge from them whenever needed.

I don't know much about the salary increment for project engineer (contractual), in my opinion for contractual staff should have a scope of annual salary increment as per yearly performance evaluation in a given project.

If you have links in Ministry this place is for you. If you are a hard working person with no links in Ministry like me, so my friend this place is not for you.

Dislikes

The Sr. Management has no manners to speak with their colleagues. The Director spells out foul languages (galiya) to the office people all the time. They will spoil your career. The Director will not let you join anywhere else even if you get selected in better organisation & exploit you.
