Disappointing Interview Experience with D.E. Shaw

I recently interviewed with D.E. Shaw, and it turned out to be one of the most draining experiences I’ve had. The interviewer’s approach felt unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, which made the entire process uncomfortable. At multiple points, the interviewer asked me to drop off the call, even when I tried asking basic questions about the designation, job description, and other details. After the interview, I found myself sitting there for a few minutes, trying to process what just happened. It left me questioning the overall tone and professionalism of the interview. Definitely not the experience I was expecting from such a well-known firm.

Stretch till 9-9:30 p.m. I.e. no fixed exit timings. 6. Incentive slab / holidays /targets /salary credit date / incentive credit date are changed without any prior notice as per their requirements. 7. Highly biased management favouring only few and neglecting the hard work with the outcomes of others. 8. CEO/COO doesn't care about culture or ethics of the company. 9. Only requirement of company is profit. 10. They just allure you with higher salary package then can kick you even in a month without any notice period. 11. There is not much to like about this company other than free green tea.

Dislikes

Disgusting work culture. People not treated like employees they are just treated like labour who can be thrown out any day. HR dept is the worst, have no empathy towards the staff specially the HR head. Will ask to work on holidays and weekends. Hardly spend 100 rupees for diwali gifts.
