Skill development and exposure is good. New recruits will get good exposure and can use it as platforms to jump and this is not a place for carrier growth.Maximum one year is good enough.
Dislikes
Though it is a MNC, there is scant regard for ethics, work life balance. Manufacturing sector is at the worst receiving ends. Work pressure is high and too many functional heads will ask the same details in different formats and phone calls will be at any time. Unit heads are responsible but without powers. Assessment are done on out dated bell curve system and some of the units will not have required staffs but their performance will be clubbed with better staffed units. Lot of manufacturing units are being closed or either sold and Employees are dismissed without even a week time. Their settlements are referred to BOP who will not address their issues in holistic way. Often it is bits and pieces. Manufacturing employees are sent without any compensation but if it finance or sales they will get compensation. Often middle level managers are kept in dark till the 11th hour but senior level expectation are very high soon after theirs 11th hour decision....Read More

Excellent culture, excellent peers, very employee friendly organisation. I faced issue with unnecessary politics and poor leadership in some places however I got to see what a great manager looks like. Overall I was very satisfied with USL
Dislikes
Company says very openly about premiumisation and selling quality over quantity. However USL's main product McDowell's no. 1 is not a premium whisky and while no. 1 is the most sold whisky in India, USL does not see a long future in McDowell's. As such it is closing a no. of factories and retrenching many workers. It even sold a lotof smaller less profitable brands. The overall strength of the company has been cut by 70% in the last 10 years alone and company closing so many factories with more in pipeline.
As one of the senior managers put it USL leadership does not have a clue on what to do with iconic brands like McDowell's.
As such if someone wants to have a company where they can work for more no. of years, they should look elsewhere as there is lot of uncertainty in Supply....Read More
