The World Bank is totally an staff oriented bank while it is an geo-political organization. Bank goes to great lengths to ensure good work life balance for staff and provide necessary tools to upskill themselves. Yearly salary raise is guaranteed one but it doesn't mean performance goes unmeasured. Bank is like guardian next to yourfamily which wouldn't let down its staff in times of need such Covid, Drinking water crisis, 2015 floods to name a few. Recruitment process is thorough and time-consuming, one has to have patience to keep applying for positions and God's grace if you got inside the bank, it's like central govt job. Many people who comes into the bank do not want to go out and hence it becomes extremely difficult to get inside the bank as new joiner or for promotions be it vertical or horizontal. Onsite opportunities are available but getting through its again purely through skill and rapport (networking).
