There is hardly anything that you can like about Tesco. They once had a brand recognition but that has also gone down drastically in last couple of years. I honestly don't trust this brand to buy my food. There are other lot of good brands available in UK.

Toxic Work Environment: Local management has fostered a culture of fear, blame and favoritism rather than support and transparency. I was and most employees are treated unfairly, especially when challenging and questioning decisions. False promises and mistrust: During hiring and internal movements, I was given assurances and promises that were never fulfilled. Invariably, they paint a false picture to get you in the organization and then the real nightmare begins. Salary hikes, promotions, and role stability are often bait-and-switch tactics. Unethical HR and Leadership practices: HR is a key enabler here of poor management behavior and they are advocates of toxic leadership that sits in Bangalore office. Most of the leaders highly political and under skilled, they take refuge when a newcomer tries to show them the real picture and these so called leaders plot and plan various tactics to force them into resignations....Read More

I had other offers while joining Tesco but I choose since it's a big name and near to my home. However, after I joined I got trapped into so much politics that I had to leave within months. People were terrible and noone will respond if you ping them to ask something. Then in every 15 days, manager will schedule meeting to discuss what all went wrong without telling any good thing about you even when you are doing the work that gets assigned. No rule for old timers like in my team i saw few members only after 2 months i joined. But new joiners it's WFO policy and manager will be there to point out if you missed to come. I am still working for a Fortune 100 company only but joining TESCO was the decision that I regret the most in my life....Read More

You will work on open tools, which means skills are easily transferable. Web, Backend, Apps all you will learn without any confidential frameworks as is the case in FAANG.

Work culture is horrible. You will grow as programmer but not as software engineer. Projects are maintained like university kids. Even 15 years experienced engineers don't know any thing other than making things work, even though those short term gain may not add value in long run.

Everything, the company is so pathetic that I don't even feel like give it 1 Star as well. No work life balance, a lot of discrimination, not a good place to work, really disappointed. Tesco doesn't follow its own value, employees are never treated as the want to be, for example a team get together is also divided into 2, team dinner and team lunch. One the day of joining we were told we'll get our joining goodies but it's been 7 months we are still due for it. We don't have proper management, no work ethics no professionalism, though it's. Salary compensation is not satisfactory for 10 years employee also , manager's politics is very much in Tesco, no career growth for experienced employee at Tesco. No bonus. My over all experience with Tesco was 13 years I did not had good career growth or managers giving me opportunity to promote me lot of politics was played. Due to lack of career growth and salary I left Tesco.
