Culture has worsened like anything. Appraisal is based on oiling, not dedication. Inefficient and ineffective people are promoted to higher positions. Work systems are getting complicated day by day. Bribery is prospering under the hood of transparency. However survey results are manipulated to get award for Employer of Choice.

Best thing of tata steel is safety and learnings and trainings. Rest all are similar to other companies like Jindal steel.

Dislikes

Company can deploy an employee in any department on the basis of manpower. Though you are a technical person you have to be prepared to join in non technical department in Tata steel.

Tata steel UISL doesn't have any thing to be disliked. Only if you are working for Tata motors then is is very bad please don't join.

Company culture is top class, they care about employees, they focus on skill development. 5 days working week. 9 to 6 job for officers( except during breakdowns and other emergencies), full medical facilities for you, your parents and dependents. Lots of projects, expansions and improvements happens regularly so you won't feel stagnated and will keep on learning and improving.

Dislikes

Nothing to dislike as such. Location can be an issue to some people as some plants are not located in the city area. Some process are slow and old. During breakdowns, things get hectic (although it's true for every industry).

The pay structure is still good for freshers and employee related benefits are good. However, i have worked only in Tata Steel and hence not aware about the benefits which other companies provide.

After Ratan Tata's demise Tata Steel is the worst place for engineers. *All perks seized, leaves are half now. No meal is subsidized. *You have to works for days without off, leave. Even tea and water is payable. *Increament is like peanuts and forget about promotion. *Even if you survive a safety or code of conduct case will be issue to prove you are the slave.

The company culture is opposite of what everyone thinks. There is way too much Sir culture and the performance appraisal depends on how well your relation is with your reporting manager, not on your performance.
