The company cares about its employees and there are perks but not so much as people imagine outside. Positives - you enjoy your weekends and the working hours are flexible, plus work from home is a big boon. But if you are career driven, you should not think about joining the company.

Growth, promotions and appraisal are a big no-no since the organization itself is not growing. People who are at chief level need ego massage for better rating and appraisal. Everybody tries to delegate or shift responsibility on someone else. Everyone is playing a blame game.

After Ratan Tata's demise Tata Steel is the worst place for engineers. *All perks seized, leaves are half now. No meal is subsidized. *You have to works for days without off, leave. Even tea and water is payable. *Increament is like peanuts and forget about promotion. *Even if you survive a safety or code of conduct case will be issue to prove you are the slave.

The learning curve is great. One will get n number of opportunities to learn in any domain.

The company culture is opposite of what everyone thinks. There is way too much Sir culture and the performance appraisal depends on how well your relation is with your reporting manager, not on your performance.

Culture has worsened like anything. Appraisal is based on oiling, not dedication. Inefficient and ineffective people are promoted to higher positions. Work systems are getting complicated day by day. Bribery is prospering under the hood of transparency. However survey results are manipulated to get award for Employer of Choice.
