Shell is know for it work culture but in Chennai Shell TAO it is slowly fading away due to management decisions. This can be taken as wakeup call or else it will detoriate the brand value. Work life balance is very good. Friendly colleagues

There are very less onsite opportunities/international assignments. Promotion cycle is very confusing there is unsaid rule of 3 Years of window which is best excuse given by managers. Less effective retention policy. Your apprisal depends on your visibility- It means you have to be visible to your management by performing acitivities other than that of your project. Shell as a brand serves the employees well in the job market.

Shell Business Operations is literally exploiting the "brand" Shell. A whole of people coming in SBO thinks they will be working for THE SHELL when they are actually working for a run-of-the-mill IT company whose sole purpose is to work on a tight budget and get whatever work they can get from the actual Shell asset working in different countries charging cheap tariff. That is their Business Model. Period. Engineers get lesser salaries compared to their oil and gas counterparts and despite constant appeals by different employees to revisit market benchmarking, they have outright refused to do so. Hence, majority of the people tend to look out for jobs after they have gained experience and are demotivated. Shell assets around the world tend to think of SBO as something of a dumping ground for the work which they don't want to do themselves.
