PTI is an exciting work place and an excellent place to hone your skills. Being in India's largest news agency puts you in the centre of the whole industry, and your work goes out to numerous website. If you are enthusiastic, there is no end to the kind of opportunities and exposure that this place can provide. If you show a knack for getting good stories, you will get opportunity to travel a lot on assignments. The career growth is steady, and there is an opportunity to do both editing and reporting, especially for beginners. Seniors, especially those at the desk are supportive and helpful. You work with people who have spent their entire careers at PTI. Plenty to learn. Excellent work life balance, as no one expects you to stay in office beyond your hours, and unless you are reporter you are unlikely to be bothered when you are at home. Reporters unfortunately are sometimes insecure and protective of their beats. For those just starting out it can get difficult to get a break in reporting.

The work never gets boring, because the agency never sleeps. As long as you are in office something or the other keeps happening so the energy in the newsroom is very high.

The place had a babu culture and seniors are super biased. Since it was formed in 1947 India, it still reeks of old Soviet Socialism with senior citizens being super arrogant. Chief Editor Razdan ruled the place as a dictator and often misbehaved with interns. There was one Ashish Roy Chowdhury who was a card-carrying communist and tried to often make fun of me. The chief sports editor was nonchalant and didn't even listened to me when I asked him to include me in the sports team. All he said was "give me your name" and that was that. He sat on it for 2 years. Also, the sense of entitlement among the women editors (Deepika and Richa) was over the roof. No decency, they would have been thrown out of private institutions for misbehaving with juniors. As a fresher, I felt insecure, threatened and isolated more than ever. Moreover, the place still had workers union in place which throws tantrums and doesn't work properly. There was one Sumir Kaul in SIT department, I wish I could meet him and punch him right in his teeth. In-fact, there were many.
