I got a decent salary but most of my colleagues were highly underpaid.

Dislikes

The culture is very toxic. I worked for hindi content team as an Audio Engineer and i was expected to work and have no opinions. Every time I would raise a question or disagree, the managers would go on a frenzy about team work and hard work. The engineers with the least experience are made your leads just because they are easy forthe managers to control. All creative roles including writers, editors and audio designers are treated as labour and are heavily looked down upon by the managers. Its an audio company with Audio Engineers at the bottom of the food chain. Management is very poor and their deliverables and procees changes every month. You will have no work for 2 weeks and then suddenly you will get work of 2 months and managers will ask you to complete it in 2 weeks. It’s the biggest management failure if you cant maintain a continuous and sustainable workflow. You will waste so much time on pointless meetings and the managers will themselves be late. It doesnt matter if you are an expert at your role, if you cant be a yes man to the managers, you wont get promoted and will be asked to leave in the next lay off cycle- which is every 3-4 months btw....Read More

I do my breakfast luch and dinner with family, i can play with my dog, i live with my family so Work from Home is the biggest advantage tgat company gives to ots employees. Secondly, managers listen to ideas, and if they find the idea worth, it will be applied and you will be appreciated for that.

Dislikes

The culture is a bit vague, Pocket FM seems be gradually shifting from a startup to a full blown corporate, hence one can see a lot of things changing on day to day basis. Alot of ambiguity and lack of trust on you, all the time you will be feeling as if something or the other is coming for you. Micromanagement is at its peak, not seen a company where a AVP level person inquires and distrusts an executive level employee in such details. Last but not the least, company has IITians fetish, it makes you feel that if you are not an IITian you may have worked in the industry for many years but your worth is questionable. Main product of the company is a piece of content in Audio format, but at the end an IITian will have the power to take decisions that too on creative level, which is fine but when you know the better ways to do it, nobody will ask you because you dont hold an IIT degree....Read More

When I joined them , it was a start up. Payment was low but with time it have developed into a big company with investments in diverse sector. As a writer all I need is to deliver good content and rest is taken care of by the company.

Some people comment over favouritism and arbitrary decisions but I think that is up to the management.

The content we got to work with was lousy and horrible and i'm not even proud of working on it. The team lead has poor leadership values and skills. The associates and management aren't supportive. Poor salary, and on top of that they don't pay on time.

From my personal experience, as well as that of my colleagues, Pocket FM has a tendency to terminate employees without any prior notice or clear reason. It was unsettling to face this lack of transparency, which affected not only job security but also morale within the team.
