Reviews for Opkey clients, whether you're a fresher, experienced, manager, functional tester, HR, or even if you're not part of these roles, you can still get an idea of how work is conducted at Opkey. If you are reading these reviews before joining the company, you may feel like these things won't happen to you because you need thejob, and you're desperate to join. However, I urge you to reconsider; the reviews below will give you a clearer picture.
The company name is Smart Software Testing Solution Pvt. Ltd., and it uses the Opkey tool for automation, which is entirely keyword-based. There's no actual coding involved. During the hiring process, they may ask basic Java questions or test automation on a website.
There are no set rules for Work From Office (WFO) or Work From Home (WFH). You are expected to work from 10 AM to 1-2 AM every day, totaling 14-16 hours daily, even if you are in your notice period. Weekends look good on the calendar but aren't really free at Opkey.
For Managers: If you're planning to join Opkey as a manager, please check the history of the company, particularly how many managers joined and left in 2024. When I was there, the VP (DS) hired around 6-7 managers, trained them, and after 3-4 months, they all quit one by one.
For Freshers and Experienced Automation Test Engineers: As a fresher, I understand the pressure to secure a job. However, do not celebrate after receiving the offer letter; be prepared to work 24/7. There are no weekends without overtime pay, as the CEO directly told the VP that it’s expected. If you're in a relationship or married, be prepared for divorce or break-ups because you won't have time for your personal life. After leaving the company, no one will care about the Opkey tool, and you’ll have to relearn Java and automation from scratch.
Regarding the bond, HR (Reetu) will hold progress meetings for the first three months. She will motivate you, saying she works 16-17 hours a day too, and will ask how things are going. For the first 1-3 months, you won't be able to fully explain your situation. When the meeting ends, she will send you links for LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Google, and other job platforms to provide positive reviews. As a fresher, you may end up leaving feedback like "better" or "good." But don't trust the positive ratings.
PIP (Performance Improvement Plan): In Opkey, if you have a disagreement with any senior person, they will form a meeting (excluding the VP and CEO) to discuss how to fire you. The senior group will discuss it and provide feedback to HR, who is usually in agreement with them. You will then be called into a meeting and told that your performance isn't good, and they’ll ask you to submit your resignation. They will give you a PIP for one month to prove your performance. During that time, the senior team may assign you difficult, time-consuming tasks, deliberately testing your limits. Even if you're under contract, they will be ready to pay you for a month if you resign. If you mention your 2-year bond, HR will claim it's mentioned in the contract, but this is a false statement.
Yogesh plays a significant role in the internal politics of the company. If you don’t work on weekends, even during company parties, they may threaten you with resignation. Senior members and others in Opkey are aligned with each other, with Dimpy taking sides, ignoring the actual work being done in the company.
They don’t care about hospitalization or sick leave. If you're working from home and face a power outage, you are expected to send a photo of your light meter reading to your lead. Despite working more than 12 hours a day, even emergency medical leave requires submitting a prescription. My advice to both freshers and experienced candidates: take 3-4 months to search for another job, but avoid joining Opkey.
They exploit employees like prostitutes. Even prostitutes get paid for their time, but Opkey won’t compensate for overtime work.
For Functional Testers: If you're considering becoming an Automation Test Engineer, understand that if an Automation Engineer faces an issue and works past 11 PM, you will be expected to help resolve functional issues. One of the functional testers, Shilpee, once emailed the VP and the Functional Manager saying she would not be available for the weekend because her sister had an emergency surgery. Despite explaining her situation, Shilpee was pressured to work that day, and after 24 hours, she resigned.
For Clients: Opkey started with fewer resources in 2022, and at first, 10-15 automation engineers worked on a project. Over time, the numbers decreased, and by mid-2024, the VP strictly allocated one resource per project to increase company growth (solely in terms of money). However, it's impossible for one person to handle an entire project. Under business pressure, some test engineers and leads resort to unethical practices, like editing old reports and sending them to clients, who then provide better feedback.
If you're considering outsourcing a project to Opkey...Read More
