IISER Pune is probably the best among the IISERs. I have experience of working in two of the reputed IISERs. The work culture and work-life balance scope is better than others as the campus is placed at a good spot in the city of pune. Training and facilities are good and till date the institute is under good leadership. Salaries are as pr government scale. The administration till date is student friendly....Read More

Dislikes

A few individual work groups can be stressful. But the institute is equipped with good medical and counseling support, if required. There is very few aspects like mess food that can be complained about a bit.

Scientific research. I work on ion channel biophysics. basically on understanding activation mechanism of an ion channel by a spider toxin.

This institute is good for research and training for research skills. People who wanted to pursue a career in research can opt IISER-K. Especially, Biology and chemistry departments are having good work culture and sophisticated infrastructure.

Dislikes

It is away from Kolkata so, facilities apart from professional are not to the mark. Transport facility has to improve.

It's a great place for getting a work experience and if you're under the right PI, would recommend the institute for a PhD as well.

Dislikes

Commuting to the campus is an expensive hassle. For people applying/ joining for the position of a Project Associate or similar posts, do a background check on the lab and the PI, just so that you don't regret joining later.
