Never join IISER-KOLKATA for PhD if you don't know any specific guide personally.

Dislikes

Too much academic policing, no support from anyone during your course, not even from the teachers.... They know only about their profit and their publishing...

IISER Pune is probably the best among the IISERs. I have experience of working in two of the reputed IISERs. The work culture and work-life balance scope is better than others as the campus is placed at a good spot in the city of pune. Training and facilities are good and till date the institute is under good leadership. Salaries are as pr government scale. The administration till date is student friendly....Read More

Dislikes

A few individual work groups can be stressful. But the institute is equipped with good medical and counseling support, if required. There is very few aspects like mess food that can be complained about a bit.

Scientific research. I work on ion channel biophysics. basically on understanding activation mechanism of an ion channel by a spider toxin.

Work days: Monday to Saturday (Flexible Timings)
