Dislikes

FEA really needs to analyse the work conditions in which a facilitator works. There are branches which see three sessions getting conducted simultaneously along with 60 students at jam-packed premises. A few branches really feel suffocating and during the summers it becomes quite a mission to cope with. FEA have seen a huge number of resignations since 2019, towards which the administrators must take an empathetic yet corrective look. There seems to be at least two types of classes existing in the organisation. One is of facilitators who forms the majority and the other is of the cohorts of managers (which includes Associate Territory Manager, Territory Manager, Area Manager, Zonal Manager etc) who are supposed to manage and help the facilitators in their day to day functioning. FEA has devised a method of evaluating their facilitators through monthly evaluation rubric, famously known as MER. This system if seen from above is quite great but where the fault-lines appear in this system is when the managers carry out this exercise. Even though the MER have different categories divided with assigned values, yet the numbers are subjective to managers comprehension, attention and depending upon the rapport with the individual facilitators. Facilitators gets evaluated on the MER score which gets circulated with the team, but whether the managers gets evaluated on similar benchmarks is ambiguous and unclear. If the managers also gets evaluated then it must be shared with the team as it gets done in the case of facilitators. There are managers who have been found to behave in a demeaning manner with the facilitators. If FEA really values their majority of work force then they must provide a channel for grievance redressal keeping in mind the values (empathy, active listening etc) which the organization aims to instill in their employees and the targeted beneficiary of the programme. The only thing I like here is students. If you love teaching and want to do something for community, this is the right place to start.

Dislikes

Management is not good. They don't focus on basic needs of employees but have enough expectations from them. You are bound to do all administrative, counselling and mobilisation work along with teaching/facilitation.
