Awesome team and compensation benefits are key driving factors for me at Dell. Suggestions and ideas proposed as part of the Innovation Drives and Hackathons are really encouraged and right Recognition is provided for game changers stuff.

Dislikes

Work Pressure is high on people in India. Needless to say the amount of hours you need to work on any given day are usually above 12 hours mostly extending till late night India time. Weekends are also some times busy and not really compensated in the right way later. Overall, work-life balance is at high stake. Digital Transformation is in full swing within the organization at the moment but clearly not every team is equally important and many of them are clearly trying to adopt to the new process and technologies without any direction. Updates at mid level management are not usually frequent and transparent. Compensation and benefits are as per market standards and Recognition in form.of rewards for Hard work is usually done and keeps the motivation for employees to work along aggressively. Overall, I see this as a place to work for few years , grow personally while delivering what the company needs and ask you with utmost quality and then move on unless you are in a position where the ciurve of learning and growing is constantly going up....Read More

Job security: Dell recently layed off more than 12000 employees and may cut down more head count so it's job security is a major issue. Salary: Salary is little below market standards. Appraisal/promotion : Once you reach to principal engineer position, promotion seems like an alien concept because 1 in around 30-40 principal engineer gets promoted to Sr principal level that too after ATLEAST after 10-12 years working as a principal engineer. Skill development/Learning : NO Scope whatsoever for new learning. Most of people who left there jobs recently were due to lack of opportunities to learn new skills and were bored/tired of working on the same things for years. So if you have a hunger to learn new things, Dell is certainly NOT a place for you. The main perk of working at dell is that you are exposed to a variety of software and hardware products apart from your own. There is always a huge learning opportunity.

The promotions at senior level are difficult.
