Getting selected for a job opportunity in ADNOC Drilling is like a dream come true. One of the well-known leading companies in the middle east. One will be sure that the company will take you to places and will give you substantial growth opportunities. Unfortunately, it is far from whatever I have mentioned above. I joined the company in 2017 as a roustabout. Working my way to the top, I excelled in any task that was thrown at me. My superiors were very happy and surprised looking at the way I worked. Within a year, I was promised by my rig manager to send a letter of recommendation regarding my promotion. But I was told to at least wait to complete a year so that they could send that letter forward. After completing a year, the letter was forwarded, but nothing was implemented. Not letting myself down I was still continued to work and my supervisors advised me to work on the rig floor as an Acting Roughneck/Floorman. It was way above my pay grade especially facing the risks of the rig floor, I still took up that task in order to learn, since I wanted to grow in this company and hope to be promoted soon. But alas nothing happened. just like that they made me work by just telling me that I will be promoted soon and by doing nothing regarding it. After completing my second year when I requested my supervisor regarding the same they conveniently changed my rig, in short, got rid of me. Adnoc talks about 100% HSE, yes they do, But its only talks. Nothing is implied to work. I have worked hard in this company have been awarded multiple certificates for my performance, maintaining HSE standards, work ethics, and culture. If you think I'm joking here, I was awarded Safety man of the year 2020. Adnoc did not pay me any kind of bonus for this achievement nor give me a certificate regarding the same. Adnoc doesn't care about its employees. there is no job stability. people who want to join this company there's no stopping you but just keep these things in mind. You don't have to be like me

Disappointing Interview Experience with D.E. Shaw

I recently interviewed with D.E. Shaw, and it turned out to be one of the most draining experiences I’ve had. The interviewer’s approach felt unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, which made the entire process uncomfortable. At multiple points, the interviewer asked me to drop off the call, even when I tried asking basic questions about the designation, job description, and other details. After the interview, I found myself sitting there for a few minutes, trying to process what just happened. It left me questioning the overall tone and professionalism of the interview. Definitely not the experience I was expecting from such a well-known firm.
