Ans.

The EMV flow typically consists of six steps.

  • 1. Card insertion into the terminal.

  • 2. Terminal reads the card data and sends it to the issuer for verification.

  • 3. Issuer authenticates the transaction and sends back an authorization response.

  • 4. Terminal prompts for cardholder verification (PIN or signature).

  • 5. Cardholder verification is completed.

  • 6. Transaction is approved or declined.
