Why are Indian companies so absurd?
I just received an assignment for a design role I applied for. According to the person who sent it, it will take around 7 hours to complete. The salary range for the position is 20k for junior and 35k for senior roles, while my current salary is 42k, I am junior in graphic design.
The role includes three tasks:
1. Design
2. Video editing
3. Animation
They’re asking for immediate joining, don’t offer Saturdays off, and the whole thing feels completely absurd.

It's important to remember that you have the power to choose what's best for you. Don't be afraid to decline offers that don't meet your standards.
What do you think about the current job market trends in India, and how do you plan to navigate them to find a fulfilling and well-compensated role?

I get your frustration, but hear me out🙏Companies sometimes set these tasks to filter serious candidates. Haan, 7 hours is a lot for an assignment, but it’s also a chance to showcase your skills.
That said, offering less salary than your current one, no Saturdays off, and expecting immediate joining is definitely pushing it. You’re already earning 42k, so why settle for less unless the role has crazy growth potential?
Honestly, if it doesn’t feel right, trust your gut. There are better opportunities out there that’ll value both your time and skills. Don’t settle!

TBH Many Indian companies, especially those in creative fields, don't have a clear standard for pay or work hours. This can lead to unrealistic expectations and low compensation, unfortunately

They think talented candidates are just lining up to join them. Don't worry, they'll soon figure that hiring is easy, hiring good people is a difficult job they aren't cut out for.
