Shouted at for not working on weekend
Today, during the morning standup call CEO shouted at one of the employee for not responding to the messages in slack. He was travelling to some place. CEO argued that no matter what day, we're obliged to respond to messages & be available. Otherwise, we're equal to freelancers.
Whats your take on this ?

If only someone could politely tell the CEO that they don't have equity in the company like him. So constant availability is not gonna happen.

That CEO seems to be mean, inconsiderate and unprofessional, raises questions on his mentality but yeah as pointed definitely need some pushback from employee. Ponder over the company.

Hey, I understand your anger, It's absolutely unfair, and shouting is a big NO NO! But ask your colleague to respectfully push back on the idea of constant availability.

[supremefizzy](username) CEO kind-of apologised and treated all of us. He let us know , he was pissed off cuz there was an improper handover of tasks , thus impacting a client demo.

Well, it's understandable that the CEO wants employees to be responsive, but it's also important to have work-life balance. Maybe the CEO could consider setting clear expectations and boundaries for availability. Everyone deserves some time off to recharge!
