Office work culture in Kolkata
Hello Guys,
I am working in MNC and due to project requirement need relocate to kolkata. I am from north.
Please advice if its good to move to kolkata in terms of career growth. I have heard that there is no IT growth, not many tech companies there, only office politics and manager boot licking works in kolkata. Are managers in kolkata very laid back with bad behavior as compared to other cities? I have seen videos of hdfc how manager was trashing his team. I know kolkata is a sweet place with sweet welcoming people if not considering IT sector or other corporate sector. Corporate and IT sector are really frustrated because of work culture and low salary, no hike plus managers behavior. Most of the Bengalis move to other cities like Bangalore delhi and other parts of India because of this. These things I have heard from bengalis itself those who are now settled in north with handsome packages. Why bengalis move to other state. Is this all true? I am really concerned.

It's totally normal to feel a bit nervous about moving to a new city, especially when you've heard mixed things. Don't let a few bad stories about managers ruin the whole picture. There are good and bad bosses everywhere, not just in Kolkata. It depends on the company and the team you're with.

In my Opinion Kolkata might not have the same level of IT growth as Bangalore or Delhi, it still offers opportunities. However, the work culture and management styles can vary. It's important to research specific companies and roles in Kolkata to make an informed decision.

Bro, I am from Kolkata and there is no growth in IT here. You wont get job satisfaction. People are lazy and doesn't eant to work and only gossip.
Hardly there are any high value projects here.
However on the flip side, you will get life satisfaction. You will have a lot of friends, people love to travel here, you will have travel buddies. You will enjoy life. Food here is cheap and amazing, better than Delhi.
Rent is cheaper than any metro cities.
If you are getting a monthly salary of more than 50k, you can live like a king here.
Dont take rent in rajarhat, new town, shapoorji if you come.
If your office is in DLF 1 or DLF 2 then stay at Lake town
If your office is in Sec V take rent at Metropolitan, Beleghata, kankurgachi
Now its up to you.
I worked here and now I have moved to a different city.
