How do you connect a huge bureaucracy like the US government and the high tech world? You create the Technology Administration (TA). As the liaison between the two behemoths, TA looks for ways for the government to support technological development, facilitates private sector funding of innovation, connects scientists and investors, promotes R&D, and gives the high tech industry a clearinghouse for problem solving. Components of the agency include the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the Office of Technology Policy, and the National Technical Information Service. TA is part of the Department of Commerce.
