CCI nod for South Korean steel maker POSCO Group’s intra-group restructuring
- The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has approved the intra-group restructuring of South Korean steel maker POSCO Group.
- POSCO Group's subsidiary, POSCO-India Processing Centre Private Ltd (PIPC), will acquire a certain shareholding in POSCO - India Pune Processing Centre Private Ltd (IPPC) as part of the deal.
- The acquisition aims to consolidate the group's control over its steel processing and distribution network in India.
- The move is in line with POSCO's commitment to enhancing operational efficiency and market competitiveness in India's expanding infrastructure and manufacturing sectors.

JSW Group Plans Rs 35,000-Crore Steel Plant In Odisha
- JSW Group signed an MoU with the Odisha government to set up a 5-million tonne per annum steel plant in Keonjhar district.
- The investment for the project is estimated to be around Rs 35,000 crore.
- Keonjhar district is rich in iron ore reserves, and the plant aims to utilize the local resources for the benefit of the community.
- The involvement of South Korean steel major POSCO is yet to be decided for this project.

Political push for RINL’s revival: ₹17,000 crore debt restructuring package, Japanese tech explored for modernisation
- The Steel Ministry has proposed a ₹17,000 crore debt restructuring package for the debt-ridden steel-maker RINL.
- The package includes additional investments for modernisation, including private investments from Japanese tech partners.
- The modernisation plan aims to set up electric arc furnaces and replace existing blast furnaces with an estimated investment of ₹7500 crore.
- At least six to seven Japanese companies, including POSCO, have expressed interest in investing in RINL for its modernisation.

POSCO join hands with JSW Steel to tap India
- POSCO and JSW Steel have joined hands to set up an integrated steel plant in India with a capacity of 5 million tonnes per annum.
