Payzone

Are you in the zone? The Payzone, that is. As its name suggests, the company offers two methods for consumers to deplete their bank accounts -- paying bills and withdrawing cash. Payzone has more than 170,000 retail kiosks (including 6,000 ATMs) in some 20 European countries, where customers can pay their utility bills, rent, and local taxes; top up their mobile phones; or purchase bus tickets, gift cards, calling cards, and prepaid debit cards. The company's largest presence is in the UK, with 30,000 locations. Payzone's hot-pink self-service terminals are located at newsstands, supermarkets, convenience stores, and business centers. Investment firm Duke Street Capital bought nearly 70% of Payzone in 2010.
