Ex-Harrods director says Mohamed Al Fayed used cash bribes to ‘control’ staff
- A former Harrods director has claimed he was handed envelopes of cash by Mohamed Al Fayed as part of the billionaire’s plan to control and manipulate senior management.
- Jon Brilliant, who worked in Fayed’s private office for 18 months, described surveillance, sackings, and a culture that kept senior staff from trusting or communicating with each other.
- Brilliant revealed that Fayed offered him cash to compromise him, and he received envelopes full of cash totaling about $50,000 (£39,000).
- The Metropolitan police has launched an investigation into people who may have facilitated Fayed's alleged crimes and an internal review is being conducted into how the force handled claims about him while he was alive.
