PostgreSQL Developer - Database Design (7-10 yrs)

Job Description :

We are seeking a talented PostgreSQL Developer with expertise in database migration and cloud-based environments. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and optimizing PostgreSQL databases, executing database migration projects, and working on cloud infrastructure to support scalable, high-performance applications.

Key Responsibilities :

- Database Design and Development : Design, develop, and optimize PostgreSQL databases to meet business requirements.

- Migration Expertise : Lead database migration projects from legacy systems (e.g., Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server) to PostgreSQL, ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime.

- Cloud Integration : Implement and manage PostgreSQL databases in cloud environments such as AWS (RDS), Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.

- Performance Tuning : Optimize database performance by analyzing and resolving slow queries, indexing issues, and storage inefficiencies.

- Automation : Develop scripts and tools to automate routine database tasks, backups, and monitoring.

- Collaboration : Work closely with application developers, DevOps teams, and stakeholders to ensure seamless database integration and deployment.

- Documentation : Create and maintain detailed documentation of database designs, migration plans, and performance metrics.

- Data Security : Ensure compliance with best practices for database security, including access controls, encryption, and regular audits.

Required Qualifications :

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

- 7+ years of experience in PostgreSQL database development and administration.

- Proven expertise in database migration, including data mapping, transformation, and validation.

- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS (RDS, Aurora), Azure Database for PostgreSQL, or Google Cloud SQL.

- Strong knowledge of SQL, PL/pgSQL, and database optimization techniques.

- Familiarity with tools like pgAdmin, pg_dump, DBeaver, or other PostgreSQL management tools.

- Experience with database replication, clustering, and high availability solutions.

- Solid understanding of DevOps and CI/CD pipelines related to database deployment.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Experience migrating large-scale databases and addressing associated challenges.

- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

- Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) for database deployments.

- Certifications in PostgreSQL or relevant cloud technologies.
