Job Description
Title: Legal & Finance Manager
Experience: 5 to 10 years
Location: Mumbai & Surat
Role And Responsibilities :
- Responsible for managing legal, compliance, and financial processes during the setup of the NBFC and its initial operations
- NBFC Licensing & Regulatory Compliance: Working with the legal advisors to prepare and submit documentation, for obtaining NBFC licenses and ensure full regulatory compliance
- Financial Management: Manage initial finance, accounting, and reporting processes to support the smooth running of the NBFC during its early stages - Report to the Promoter directly
Key Activities & Role Responsibilities
Licensing & Documentation:
- Prepare and submit all necessary documentation for obtaining the NBFC license with the RBI, ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Liaise with regulatory authorities and ensure that the licensing process progresses efficiently, addressing any queries or additional documentation requests from the RBI
Compliance & Legal Monitoring :
- Continuously monitor compliance and legal requirements during the NBFC setup phase, ensuring that all regulatory obligations are met
- Assist in drafting and maintaining internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with RBI guidelines and other statutory requirements
- Work with external legal counsel to manage legal matters related to the NBFC's setup
Financial & Accounting Management:
- Set up and manage early-stage financial functions, including accounting systems, financial reporting, and tax compliance
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring that accounting processes adhere to regulatory standards and internal controls
Experience & Skillsets
Industry Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a finance or legal/compliance role within the financial services industry, preferably with experience in NBFCs or banking
- Prior experience with NBFC licensing or working with RBI regulations is highly preferred Skills.
Abilities & Know-how
Regulatory Knowledge :
- Strong understanding of RBI regulations for NBFCs, including experience in preparing documentation for NBFC licenses
- Familiarity with statutory requirements related to compliance, legal, and financial reporting for NBFCs
Legal, Compliance & Finance Expertise :
- Ability to draft and review contracts, policies, and legal documents to ensure compliance with regulations
- Expertise in monitoring and ensuring adherence to legal and compliance requirements, particularly during the startup phase of a financial services business
- Proficiency in financial reporting, preparing financial statements, and handling tax compliance.
Project Management:
- Ability to work under deadlines and handle complex documentation processes
- Strong management skills to handle multiple regulatory, legal, and financial tasks simultaneously.
