Job Description
You will be making key technology decisions, building & maintaining large production grade distributed systems that handle petabyte scale, providing delightful experience for PayPal and Braintree customers, merchants, brainstorming innovative ideas to help our stakeholders resolve their day-to-day problems, and helping mentor engineers.
Your day to day
- Build innovative, self-serviceable and scalable platforms and orchestration services to facilitate Big Data migration to public cloud in the multi-year journey of PayPal cloud journey with its subsidiaries.
- Anchor major team workstreams to build and improve large-scale distributed systems, reduce complexity, increase automation and burn down technical debt.
- Mentor other software engineers as a tech lead of the team
- Induce best practices of coding, design and reusability. Effectively participate in code reviews.
- Support production systems (Team rotation based)
What do you need to bring
- 3-5 years of backend development experience with proficiency in one of these technologies - Java, Golang, Spring Boot
- Hands-on experience in tuning and writing scalable SQL queries
- Design and Operational Experience with large scale production grade distributed systems
- Experience with one of the major cloud providers - AWS, Azure, GCP
Preferred Qualifications
- Server-side software development experience
- Experience in managing big-data infrastructure at petabyte scale
- Data Analytics background to understand our stakeholders
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with monitoring/logging tools and best practices
- Test-driven development (TDD)
