Role Summary

WSP India is currently seeking an Intermediate CAD Technician - Structure(Structural Designer) for Australia Mining Infrastructre Projects (Materials Handling Infrastructure). They shall be responsible for creating and editing drawings / Models in compliance with WSP CAD and Client Standards utilizing MicroStation Connect software. Previous experience in an EPCM environment in the O & G, Power, Mining processing industry is an asset.

Responsibilities

• This role is for an Intermediate Structural Designer on mining projects.
• Responsible for preparation of drawings and 3D Models
• Prepare structural drawings and models that involve structural steel and concrete mining foundations for new and brownfield mines.
• Knowledge and experience of MicroStation 2D and 3D , Open Building and Navisworks.
• Shop detailing experience with respect to Chutes, hoppers, bins, and conveyor components would be an asset.
• Prepare structural drawings that involve piling layouts and schedules, structural concrete drawings with rebar details, structural steel drawings, building architectural drawings and Fabrication drawings based on engineering instructions, government and regulatory codes.
• Must complete a high-quality self-check of own work with efficiency. Shall follow internal QC processes.
• Perform review of engineering drawings, as per markups made by the Checkers. Verify to ensure drawing modifications are accurately and correctly carried out.
• Reporting progress of work assignment to immediate supervisor. Understands the project schedule and budget requirements.
• Communicate with internal peers and project team and required to answer questions regarding deliverables.
• Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple projects with the ability to accurately
• predict the time required to fulfil the individual scopes of work required.
• Coordinating with Australian lead offices as per project requirement.
• Able to perform Material Take-Offs with Bentley MicroStation/Open Building and excel.
• Actively participate in the design and provide input to the design team throughout the design process.
• Ensuring that quality procedures are implemented and maintained.
• Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to Lead Designer.
• Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
• Develop expertise and stay up to date of developments in Drafting skills.
• Support the company s approach to sustainability.
• Able to communicate in a multi-disciplinary project team.
• Willing to learn and be polyvalent.
• Identify improvements (where possible) to enhance WSP service to clients. Complete accurate timesheets by set deadline.

• Remain up to date with market and competitor knowledge.

Mandatory Skills

We anticipate you will have an interest in the following areas:

• To contribute to growing Mining Infrastructure Teams with CAD related works using Autodesk Auto CAD/ Bentley MicroStation.
• You will also be computer literate with a reasonable proficiency in MS office suite and Navisworks.
• Having a thirst for knowledge, cultural awareness, an open mind, and good English communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team.
• Coordinating his/her work with other members of the Team.

Desired Skills

• Preference will be given to candidates with minimum 5-10 year of experience in a consulting firm in mineral processing using Bentley MicroStation and ProjectWise.
• Preference will be given to candidates with shop detailing experience of Chutes, Bins, Hoppers, and conveyor components. E.g. trusses
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines.
• Ability to work well as part of a team or on an individual basis.
• Previous experience in an EPCM environment in the O & G, Power, Mining processing industry is an asset.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of experience in Structural 2D/3D drafting and modeling.
• Minimum of a Diploma in civil / structural engineering.
• Strong organizational, technical, and communication skills.
• Strong attention to the detail.
• Familiar with working in a LEAN environment.
• Experience with projects in Australia, New Zealand would be an advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in English.
• Experience with Advance steel, Navisworks, BIM 360, or Bentley open building and ProjectWise.
