Vmware Engineer - Contract - Remote

Note:90% ESX vs 10% NSX experience per candidate is ideal, so more on Virtualisation. 

F5 general knowledge is beneficial

Responsibilities:

• Infrastructure Management: support the continuous improvement of the VMware environment, aligning with industry best practices to ensure seamless operation and optimal performance.
• Capacity & Health Management: Manage the overall health and capacity of the VMware environment, including performing capacity planning and ensuring optimal resource utilization.
• Operational Management: Implement and manage clients ESX standards for operational alerting, patch management, and capacity management.
• Incident Resolution: Provide 24x7x365 support for incident resolution, including engaging with Broadcom and utilizing existing customer service and maintenance contract terms.
• Documentation: contribute to detailed documentation, including data flow diagrams, logical diagrams, and physical diagrams where required.
• Monitoring & Reporting: Configure and coordinate monitoring thresholds, alarms, and alerts. Provide reporting metrics on system information using scripts and automation tools.

Required Skills & Experience:

• VMware Expertise: Extensive hands-on experience with VMware virtualization in large-scale environments, including experience with Hyperconverged Infrastructure, NSX Distributed Firewalls, and VDI concepts.
• Scripting & Automation: Strong experience in Windows PowerShell scripting and/or other programming languages for automation and operational process improvement.
• Public Cloud Migrations: Experience with migrations to public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or Office 365 is preferred.
• Windows OS Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Windows OS technologies (Win7, Win10, Win2K8, Win2K12, Win2K16).
• Network & Storage: Understanding of networking, storage, and server design principles.
• Zero/Thin Client Devices: Experience with Zero or thin client devices (e.g., Dell or HP).
• Self-Management: Ability to self-manage tasks and projects with minimal direction, identifying problems, and effectively communicating solutions.
• Team Collaboration: Strong team player with a “get-it-done” attitude, willing to collaborate across departments.

Desired Qualifications:

• VMware VCP Certification
• HCoA Experience (Desired but not required)
