Job Summary :

We are seeking a Senior POS System Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in Java development, particularly within the retail industry.

The role is focused on the development and maintenance of Point of Sale (POS) solutions, with a preference for candidates experienced in Oracle POS systems. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to test-driven development (TDD) and a focus on delivering high-quality, maintainable code.

Key Responsibilities :

POS Development & Maintenance :

- Design, develop, and maintain Point of Sale (POS) systems and related services.

- Ensure POS solutions meet business needs while maintaining high availability, reliability, and performance.

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and implement new POS features and enhancements.

Test-Driven Development (TDD) :

- Apply TDD principles to ensure high-quality and robust code with extensive unit and integration tests.

- Work closely with QA teams to develop comprehensive test plans and improve test automation coverage.

Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution :

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Oracle POS or other retail systems, providing prompt solutions to ensure minimal downtime.

- Monitor and analyze production environments to identify and resolve performance issues.

Performance Optimization :

- Continuously optimize Java services and POS solutions to ensure scalability and performance in high-traffic retail environments.

- Apply best practices for performance tuning and resource management.

Collaboration & Documentation :

- Work collaboratively with internal teams, including business analysts, product managers, and other developers, to design effective retail solutions.

- Maintain clear and thorough documentation of code, processes, and solutions to ensure transparency and easy knowledge sharing.

Code Review & Mentorship :

- Lead code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and architectural guidelines.

- Mentor junior developers and assist with skill development and training.

Required Skills & Qualifications :

Technical Skills :

- Java Development : 8-10 years of hands-on experience in Java development, with strong knowledge of core Java concepts and libraries.

- POS System Development : Proven experience in developing and maintaining POS systems in a retail environment. Experience with Oracle POS is highly preferred.

- TDD : Strong understanding and hands-on experience with test-driven development (TDD) methodologies and practices.

- RESTful APIs : Proficient in designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs for seamless service integration.

- Databases : Solid understanding of relational databases, preferably Oracle, with the ability to write and optimize SQL queries.

Analytical Skills :

- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex issues and provide efficient solutions.

- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively, with a focus on optimizing performance in production environments.

Collaboration & Communication :

- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders.

- Ability to articulate technical concepts and solutions to non-technical team members.

Preferred Qualifications :

Microservices Architecture :

- Experience working with microservices architecture and developing scalable, decoupled systems.

Agile/Scrum Methodologies :

- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development processes, with experience working in iterative development cycles.

DevOps & CI/CD :

- Exposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring continuous integration and continuous deployment of solutions.

Retail Domain Expertise :

- Experience in the retail industry, with a deep understanding of the business processes and challenges involved in POS systems and retail software solutions.

Educational Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
