Cloud Application Modernization Engineer

As a Cloud Application Modernization Engineer, your key responsibilities include:

• Application Assessment and Strategy Development: Assess existing legacy applications, determine their modernization needs, and develop a detailed migration strategy to move them to cloud-native architectures.
• Architecture and Design: Redesign applications for the cloud by adopting microservices architecture, serverless computing, and containerization strategies.
• Cloud Migration and Implementation: Execute the migration of applications to cloud environments, ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining data integrity.
• Containerization and Orchestration: Utilize containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) to optimize deployment processes, streamline application delivery, and support scalability requirements.
• Automation and DevOps: Implement DevOps best practices, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automated testing to enhance deployment speed and reliability.
• Security and Compliance: Integrate security protocols into the modernization process, ensuring all cloud applications adhere to compliance standards and best practices for data protection.
• Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize the performance of modernized applications in the cloud, making adjustments to improve efficiency, reduce latency, and optimize resource usage.
• Collaboration and Documentation: Work closely with developers, architects, and other cross-functional teams to align modernization efforts with business goals, and document processes, configurations, and best practices.

• Cloud Platforms Expertise: Strong experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including knowledge of core services like compute, storage, networking, and databases.
• Modernization Tools and Technologies: Proficiency with containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools (Kubernetes), as well as serverless technologies (AWS Lambda, Azure Functions, Google Cloud Functions).
• Application Development: Background in application development with proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node. js for cloud-based applications.
• DevOps and CI/CD Pipelines: Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions) and infrastructure automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Microservices Architecture: Solid understanding of microservices design patterns, inter-service communication, and best practices for scaling and resilience.
• Security Best Practices: Familiarity with cloud security protocols, encryption, and compliance frameworks like GDPR or HIPAA, ensuring that all cloud-native applications are secure and compliant.
• Monitoring and Logging: Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, CloudWatch, Datadog) and logging systems to maintain performance and identify issues proactively.
