Job Summary

The Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting an organization s IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and telecommunications systems. As a critical part of the IT operations team, the NOC Technician ensures maximum uptime and optimal performance of IT services. This role involves working in shifts to provide 24/7 support, managing incident responses, and collaborating with other technical teams to resolve issues efficiently.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Network Monitoring: Continuously monitor the performance and health of networks, servers, and applications using NOC tools and dashboards.

Incident Management: Detect, analyze, and respond to network and system incidents in a timely manner, ensuring minimal downtime.

Troubleshooting: Perform root cause analysis and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues. Escalate complex issues to higher-level engineers or external vendors as needed.

Reporting: Maintain detailed logs of incidents, outages, and resolutions. Generate periodic performance and availability reports for management.

System Maintenance: Execute routine maintenance tasks such as software updates, hardware checks, and network configurations to ensure optimal system performance.

Collaboration: Work closely with IT support, network engineers, and other teams to address and resolve cross-functional technical issues.

Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation, including network diagrams, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

Security Compliance: Ensure compliance with IT security policies and procedures, and monitor for potential security threats or breaches.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Networking:

Proficiency in configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other networking protocols.

Operating Systems:

Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Linux, and virtualization platforms such as VMware or Hyper-V.

Monitoring Tools:

Experience with NOC monitoring tools like SolarWinds, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar.

Incident Response:

Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve network and system issues under pressure.

Communication:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills for incident reporting and collaboration with teams.

Analytical Skills:

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to identify trends and prevent recurring issues.

Qualification & Experience Required

Educational Qualification:

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or ITIL Foundation are highly desirable.

Experience:

1-3 years of experience in a NOC, IT support, or system administration role for entry-level positions.
3-5 years of relevant experience for mid-level positions.

Additional Skills:

Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus.
Knowledge of scripting languages (e. g. , Python, PowerShell) for automation tasks is advantageous.
